    Hi,
$600 increase in 5 months is unacceptable, 1. The buying power of the AUD has increased since May07 2. They are ripping you off, try another dealer in Brissy. or go one of the aftermarket brands. such as Ironman etc. there are quite a few places to check in Brisbane.

If you got that quote in writing it may save the day, otherwise as above.

Hope this helps a little only moral support I guess :!:

The price of the ARB bars has increased as well  price quoted for the sahara colour coded and fog lights was $2518!

        Hi Guys,

The quote is in writing, in that as such it is an email from the fleet sales manager from Sci-Fleet Toyota............

Called another dealership in the northern Suburbs and they quoted me $2069 no change to the bar at all....................

Yet to call around, trouble is I still come back to the look of the Toyota Bar........

Also got a quote on IPF HID spotties fitted from TJM $2994.00 or set of LightForce $2448.00

Looks as though Toyota has realised that the Prado is selling so well and upped the accessories price to match. Salesman couldnt care less, made some lame excuse about how he wasnt notfified etc. once they have your sale or money has changed hands see you later!

I finally had a win, well sort of. Getting the Prado fitted with the Toyota Sovereign Bull Bar this Tuesday......... cant wait ended up costing $1700.00 fitted, alot better than the previous price of $2069.00 but not as good as the original quote. Was told that the bar actually costs them more than that...............

Also does anyone know of the details or have pictures of the new bar and install, specifically the new covers under the guards from what I have read somewhere?

As per the other thread in electrical, also getting some IPF 900XS spotties fitted on Wednesday.

Will finally start looking like a 4WD............

          Regards,

            G'day Darkhorse

The old guards used to be chopped away like this ...

Now the plastic liner only has about 10 mm trimmed from it's width.
All of it's original length and curve is retained and there are two metal plates that screw onto the bullbar and retain the end of the inner plastic guards.

Got the new bar installed today, very nice.

              and another shot.........

Not to sure about the gap though...... I know it is there for a reason (body and chassis move independently) but I expected it o be smaller or less "defined" can they adjust it?? or am I being overly fussy?

              Regards,

The gap is there to prevent any rubbing of the paint work as the chassis and body move independent of one another.

20 mm is good. When there is a decent bit of flex happening, between chassis and body, that gap closes to almost zero

Hey Rob, not to stress you mate, but my gap is only 10mm which i beleive should be the specs and i can't see any body work in behind.

                    Chers,

Na, the specs are definitely 15mm +/- 2mm. I am certain of it as I have fiited a few of these. They aren't much fun to fit but I normally just use the end of one of my 1/2" socket adaptors to measure it and make that a loose fit in there. Mine actually hits on the flares sometimes on real big corrugations but its OK.
The newer ones actually come with a big plastic tag to leave in the car to explain why it looks like theyr'e loose when you are driving.I suspect a few people have gone back saying their bar is loose!

                        Hi DarkHorse

                        Love your rig

                        Just a quick tip.
If you go through a car wash it will dull the finish on the bar and I find it has to be pollished often. With the cost of the bar, one would think it would be finished in a better grade material.

                        Enjoy your ride

Thanks for the great comments, really happy with it. That is an airtec snorkel, although I prefer the look of the safari, just couldnt get one at the time.........

Here are some pics of the bar with the IPF spots installed in this thread:

                              http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic.php?t=1618&start=15

When I was looking at the spotty install I noticed this:

Not happy Jan. Very unprofessional. I asked if the ARB guys did this and they said it was already like that. Took it back to Toyota and asked them what the go was. They accepted responsibility and said that they didnt finish off the bullbar install, when they tapped into the indicator wiring for the lower indicators on the bar.

Will get some conduit and some good tape etc. today and finish it properly myself.

                              Regards,

Geez man. Well I'd like to say I'm surprised but really I'm not. These days you almost expect to have to double check work like that done to your vehicle. Customer service over a whole range of areas has really faded badly. People just don't give a damn anymore. You want something done right, you gotta do it yourself.
