  • yyyyaaaaaaayyyyy.
    finally finished my rear drawers.

took some time to do (a few hours each weekend almost - 4-5 weeks)
but i'm happy with the finished result.
just finished doing the rear (door) table tonight.
    not fitted yet.
used 5.5 x 2 metres of carpet and 2.5lts of contact. i think it will hold together.
i fitted 8 tie-downs so a can tie to either side or anywhere.

    • me and my mate would be killed.
it's been a big ask getting permission from our other halves, to do this,
      and not build his house.
i mentioned it when you asked before and ........
lets just say, i don't want to go there too soon.

i reckon it would be 2/3 full days work in building them.

$25 on ebay. good for 60amps, so plenty of growth, hence the buzz bars.

                        1 have 3 batteries.
the battery protector runs off the 3rd battery.
the yellow thing in the slot is a peice timber.
with my weight on top of unsupported board, it will bow and possibly damage something.
put this in as a precaution whilst i was working in the battery compartment.
normally with fridge and luggage on it, it is fine.

hmmm, got a lend of the father-in-laws Engel so it's back to the drawing board... Going to keep with my simple 'false floor' version, just have to incorporate the fridge. Will post some pics once I've done it.

                          • However, not sure if I should canabilise (reuse) my existing frame and carpeted floor panels or try to sell it and start from scratch.

Reckon someone buy this for $50 or so? (would probably need mods to the securing method as the chances of my cargo barrier mounting points lining up with someone elses would be SLIM!) Cost a bit over $100 to make.

                            • bought a fridge slide and got some new draw runners on the way, so there will be some mods coming for my draws shortly..

Everyone on here has inspired me to get back into them.

                              • Draws

Friend just brought a new GXL V6, so now its back to the drawing board for the rear draws. Need to make the system completly modular, can be removed quickly and changed around quickly.

So far 1 draw system for the passenger side, 1 draw system for the drivers side, fridge slide section for weaco 110ltr fridge - drivers side, Gun rack carry case to go where the second row seats are, water tank and a cargo case/draw for second row seats passenger side.

Gun rack case, water tank and cargo case must come out quickly to convert back to a normal car for day to day driving, drivers side rear draws and fridge slide to be interchangable.

This will be fun to design. He will also be joining Prado Point shortly, and is looking forward to getting out with the WA crew.
