How much is the ironman kit worth? Does it also cover the fuel tank under the passenger side? in the 120s?

According to the advert in the last 4WD action it's $396 and covers the engine and transmission - so, no, it doesn't cover the fuel tank. It stops at the crossmember.

        Hi trekrider,
I have now fitted the new version of the TJM front underbody guard, it fits perfectly with the older style rear one. Just thought i'd let you know. I went to the local steel bloke here in town and bought an offcut of 3mm ally checkerplate to make something to cover the radiators.
        Cheers

            G'Day Oceanrunner,

I am installing my Ironman Underbody protection and have run into some problems on the 120. 1st I had to cut some of the pieces used to bolt into and second the Transmission plate does not go far back enough to line up properly. I have tried and tried, but it just doesn't match up. The instructions leave alot to be desired, but I am pretty sure I have got it right.

What modifications did you need to make??? Or if anyone else has fitted to the 120, if you have any ideas?

Daft question Burger - you did get supplied the Diesel ones not the petrol ones didn't you? Worth checking as they are different.

Thanks Trekrider. There wasn't any question about that when I ordered them. Also, I didn't find any differences on the Ironman Website (only 1 available). What a pain. For a 30 minute install I was prepared for, it has taken me a fair bit longer with the cursing, undo, redo then eventual drill of a hole to get the bolt through. Looks good now, but I might provide the feedback to Ironman when I have the chance! Cheers, they will have to remain as is for now.

You surprise me - the cross member is in a different position between the two plus the oil drain points are in a different place. The TJM plates don't fit if you get the wrong one.

Glad you managed to get it all fitted in the end though

Nothing a grinder and a 12mm drill bit cannot fix really!

The transmission cover/plate is about 60 mill out so it was the very rear holes which needed to be drilled. A bit of the fold gets in the way, but it seems pretty tight for now, but I will have to monitor for a few weeks to make sure all's good. If I wasn't off for a trip next week, I would have waited to see if there was an alternative. But for now, I am happy with the added protection, particularly that big gap behind the sovereign bar.

i looked at getting a set of these for my 120 and i spoke to the local fella up here and he said ironman had advised him that there was a fault with the plates, ie some hole centres were out, so i let that alone and got tjm plates, perfect fit. cheers samo

Just an Update on these Ironman Underbody Protection Plates.

I received an email back from Ironman yesterday and they advised Yes, there is a difference. The test vehicle they had was Petrol and they have been made aware there is a difference... a new set which will be uniform for both Petrol and Diesel will be available March/April.

In the meantime, I was advised to do as I did - drill a hole and trim the folded edge to clear the mounting rail.

Phew, it is confirmed - I was not going crazy or stuffing up big time!

It is only the transmission plate that will be different in the next production.

...they have been handy already and I am sure they will pay for themselves regardless, just need that rear pumpkin covered now, plus the sliders.

                        Cheers!
