I stumbled across this thread whilst researching modular drawers and I thought fantastic..that is exactly what i want. Thanks to Hoppy and bgreeni, I know it accepts the Milford and Ausguard cargo barriers should I buy one if I do the Simpson etc and the fridge in the 40%middle seat section is an awesome idea... saves your cargo space for all the camping gear..what a great use of space. I'm not going to buy a fridge bigger that the 47l ARB ..it should take that..same foot print as the Engel 40l I believe?

Thank you PPer's for putting this on the forums. I was thinking of purchasing the modular fridgepack 1 ORS & keep it permanently positioned..this should be just as good.. possibly @1/2 the cost?? Will post some pics when it arrives after I done all the i dotting! Just shows it's sometimes the simple ideas in life that are the most effective..and practicle..did not really want lots of carpeted MDF anyway..

    Cheers again PP'ers

      G'day Macaroon1,

I have the lifestyle rack and Ausguard cargo barrier. I bought them for the 2009 GTG. We crossed the desert twice, did many many kms of corrugated roads and I had it loaded with equipment for three adults. Though, I placed my fridge in the 2nd row seat position, which was ideal for my setup. I've been using them ever since and continue to be impressed with the product, especially the ease with which it can be removed.

Having said that, I am considering upgrading to the 150 and plan on selling mine around Feb.

      All the best,
      LFaR.

Hi LFaR. Many thanks for your reply. I was going to ask around if the lifestyle rack was any good for 'tough' 4wd trips however you have inadvertendly answered my query..I'm really chuffed you responded. Re the above.. if your interested I'd be happy to buy the items off you however I could not take your cargo barrier as I've a grande with rear a/c /rear bags so would have to get a different one ... as your car appears to be the GXL. I don't mind waiting till Feb..however if you change your mind, pls get back asap.

If you want to sell any good cond fridge ..I'd be interested too ..but more than happy to buy the 47l ARB..I'm sure it should fit the platform? One question: are there any tie down points on the fridge platform to keep the fridge stationary in the second seat position..dare say you can always drill in some points?

Do not hesitate to PM about any sale... I'm not far from you!!

Again many thanks for your good feedback..greatly appreciated. I think they look a great product saves people buying all those drawers!!
        Ta 4 now... Charles

Hey Charles, that soinds great. I'll keep you posted.

I also have my sights set on the 47l ARB fridge as a future purchase.

I made my own 2nd row platform for the fridge, though if I were to do it again, I'd choose the LifeStyle product for its ease of removal. In fact I contacted them last week to see if they sell one for the 150, but they don't. . If you go with the LifeStyle rack, contact them with the ARB dimensions to be sure it fits.

Hope to see you on the tracks,
          LFaR.

FWIW and for any other peeps out there who are thinking about one of these racks:
            Engel:508 x648x364mm
            ARB:508x380x705
The ARB is ever so slightly bigger but i'll contact the company just to dot all the i's. I'll endeavour to post some pics when it's all complete..the National Luna eventuully made it in!

No need, I have the ARB and it fits just fine. You cannot open the lid all the way, but because it's a lengthways opening lid, that's not surprising. We have subsequently bought the 2nd row fridge mount and it works a treat. Better for fridge and access as long as you have passenger room IMO.

Thanks photoprado - you've saved me a few emails - I appreciate your positive feedback. I plan to do exactly the same with the 2nd row mount - fantastic idea - will keep the cargo area for all the junk!! I can always tie down the fridge to the rack for small trips - there is only two of us so there will be loads of storage space!
                Thanks ..(macaroon)

Have had my rack for a while now and it really works for us. I have mounted an ARB fridge slide to it to carry our 47L ARB fridge. Yes you can not slide it all the way out so the lid opens all the way but still works and if you need to you can always just remove the lid.

The only issue I have had is when going slow over corrugations the whole shelf does bounce and it does concern me a bit watching the fridge going up and down so fast. Now I know that the company who make the rack also have support legs and am wondering if anyone has these and what are they like or are willing to provide a close up pic so that I may be able to manufacture my own.

There are some pics of the support legs on their web site which may give you some ideas on how to knock up your own. After seeing Macaroons shelf at the Janowen Hills trip I looked into this rack as an option. I have the 60l ARB fridge and was concerned about the weight of a full fridge on a slide and the stress on the seat fixing when the slide was extended. These support legs would most likely be the answer to this solution so I'm sure they would minimize the bouncing effect also.

Thanks Craigm. I have seen the web pics but was just wondering if anyone had actually purchased any and if so could they post an up close pic of them.

                        Moving rack

I have two of the support legs.
They help support the weight of the luggage.
The rack still can move around with a load on top.
Usually carry a fridge and all the usual trip gear.

I have found that the rack will not move around
if I use a ratchet strap around the rack and attached
to the seat mount on the floor under the rack.

Also a good way of securing my second spare safely
which is stored flat alongside the fridge.

So any chance of a close up pic of the support leg? The web site shows them so small so a bigger one would be good. Even how they attach to the rack would help.

Looks like the rack is now longer avaiable as the web site is no longer, the email address is no longer, and I can not call them either.

So much for getting a set of legs. Will need to have a go at making a set from memory. The part I can not picture it how they attach to the rack. Anyone want to share a pic?

What a shame. I liked the product and discussed with the guy about load ratings etc.. (60l ARB fridge etc...) I'll check my pc when I get home as I may have some pics that may be useful
