Yeah I saw this in the mag when I booked in my lockers last month. Looks huge and not sure where you'd locate it. Im happy with what Ive got, till I see one of these in action!

      • Thats a lot of coin for an onboard compressor!!! All to save 60 or so seconds per tyre to re-inflate from 15psi back to 38psi. Yeh you can run some air tools off it, but thats all extra weight to carry. The compressor itself is almost 9kg. Impressive package but not for me.

        • Couldn't put one under the bonnet if I wanted too. No room..... Pretty hard to justify at that cost anyways

          • C'mon Rob, you know you want one!

Just put it under your seat - can only be twice as loud with twice the vibration of the single unit...
            Cheers

Good thinking Mike, however, there is no room under the seats either. They are full of electric gizmos for adjusting the actual seats and an optional ejection unit I suspect. It would not surprise me given the cannister type things also under there for air bags in the seats.

              • Fair enough, though I suspect the air bag is sitting ON the seat not In it!

For $50 it's pretty good. Don't expect it to be ultra fast but you can't complain for $50.

                        • Thanks Schaffer

Thats what I thought, for $50 cant go wrong.

The speed doesn't bother me so much, as long as they are not rubbish.

Or mount it directly under a Hilux bonnet scoop! Great idea and the air oulet can be accessed without opening the bonnett!

                            • Just ordered the same compressor and hose kit. Picking it up tomorrow. Considering mounting it under the passenger seat, but will decide on it this weekend when I play with it and do my install!

Great write up though, will be following most of it or all depending on the positioning.

EDIT: Has anyone got this installed in a 120 under the seat? If so, could you post a pic of it just to get an idea of the orientation you've used. I was going to put it straight in the middle, but there is the rear seat foot heater vents there, and also, don't want to put it too far back so that people in the back seat can kick it (otherwise I'll kick them!)

                              Thanks!

                              • Joined the club and picked up a CKMA12 today as my Super Crap Auto Compressor died whilst on our trip to Winton. Will install tomorrow when SWMBO is not looking
I will follow the advice provided on this thread and pick up a 5A inline fuse tommorow and get some rubber from Clark Rubber to minimize vibration of the compressor. Now to decide where to mount (V6)
