    Alloy Roof Rack (Aussie Auto Parts)

    Hi guys,

    I know the Tigar11 racks are an option for the cheaper alternative to the ARB racks. However I have been reading mixed reviews.

    Has anyone seen or have the Aussie Car Parts alloy rack? It also looks to be a ARB copy.
    Fully Enclosed Deluxe Alloy Roof Rack Cage 2200x1250x160mm (LxWxH) for Toyota Prado 120 Series. $549 plus shipping to WA.

    Ideally I would love to buy the ARB, however funds are being put towards the 2" Lift.

    I got the Aussie Auto platform rack for my 150 GX
    Finish is good, quite solid, but it took a little effort to fit as the rack section didn't align perfectly with the full length rails.
    It would be a pain if you wanted to take it on and off on regular basis.

    It came with 32 / 5/16 SS bolts to fix the rack to the rails, so it won't fly off in a hurry. I only fitted 16 bolts, two each at the 8 mounting points.
    Aussie were good to deal with and offered support went I was having trouble fitting the rack to the rails.

      Hi all I've seen the steel version it looked great nice and strong 4 brackets on each side, I'm looking at the alloy version for mine , hard to go past the price. Thanks
      I went and saw the Alum rack today, looks really good picking one up on sat morning...

            No I haven't ordered one yet but plan to in the next few weeks.

              I'm really happy with it, great quality, I cant fault it.just need to fit it.                 Well I gave them a ring. Prices seem to be all over the place for the same rack from them. I have seen it on their site for $549, eBay ranges from $649 to $699. On the phone she told me $599 then $569 plus $256 to ship to Perth. I might look for one local here I think. :/

                    Hey guys,

                    I'm really keen on the alloy version of this rack. Wondering if anyone could comment if they have had any issues with the alloy? Are the brackets for the alloy steel? Is it fair to be concerned about rust in your roof with steel brackets?
                    Lastly does anyone have a good profile shot of the alloy fitted?

                      I didnt end up getting one sorry mate. The postage to Perth didn't make it worth it. I ended up picking one up here in Perth second hand.

                        Kill switch, what is the quality of the cage like, assuming you bought the same brand.
                        I have a TigerZ steel which mounts very poorly to my 120 prado
                        Bitumen is boring, at least it can get you to the next off road adventure

                          I bought a second hand version from Ebay which had been fitted to a 150 series. I had to remove the cross bars as they were a bit flimsy and did not fit well on the 120 cross rails. I have it mounted on Rhino sportz racks being held with u bolt clamps. Sits a bit higher than usual but works for my needs over summer holidays.
                          Positives - Easily put in place and removed by one person. All up 20min.

                          Negatives - Would not put too much trust in it if going seriously off road...

                            I ended up with a quality unit sorry mate. I got a local made OverLander by Jaram. Its very similar to the TrackLander.
