    Bluetooth problems with microphone sensitivity

Like Glipschitz and Robbo (search separate post), I am having problems being heard via my bluetooth handsfree. (GXL TD June 2008 with Opt pk1). The in car audio for received calls is excellent.

I have read all the posts adjusted the volume etc and paired my Nokia 6230i and wife's Nokia 6267 without problems and the people I am speaking to complain that I am very faint and distant. I had the unit checked out at my 1000Km inspection and they too said everything was OK. Fearing old software in my 6230i was the cause, I upgraded to a 6120 on Telstra's Next G network 2 weeks ago and even with 7 Bar signal strength people complain I am faint and distrant !

Service manager has been told Fujitsu Ten are working on a solution though no timescale has been given.

Has anyone found a way for increasing the gain on the microphone of the unit ? It is driving me nuts ! Help - not what I expected in a Toyota.

    Siva

        Hi Siva,
I was advised last week that Fujitsu Ten have come up with the fix. You need to contact your dealer now and get them to order in an exchange unit. Aparrently the modified unit has the microphone gain adjusted UP so the caller can hear you! I am having mine done next week.

Do they replace the unit under warranty? I to have the same issue with the bluetooth. Do all dealers know about the issue

Re: Tuning Bluetooth in new GXL

My Samsung A412 works really well. When my wife got a Nokia we registered that as well. If you make a call, the first phone to connect to the "radio" is the one that makes the call. Seems either can receive a call through teh Bluetooth, which is really good when weswap drivers on a long trip,

Hi All. I find that my 6120 doesn't always connect to bluetooth in the car. Most days never a problem then when you don't take notice, it isn't connected. Anyone else had this problem.

We use a Nokia 6120C with our Prado on a daily basis. No problems at all so far.

Yep - Have Nokia E51 that occasionally doesn't connect. I just turn Bluetooth on and off to quick fix (on this phone just hold down # for a full second).

Suspect that real cause may be that I don't turn the phone off regularly (as it tells me to in the manual). Also recall a guy installing car kits at work saying need turn off new Nokias once a week otherwise have connectivity problems!

Will try to get in this habit and see if it improves connectivity.

                    Cheers,

Re: Tuning Bluetooth in new GXL

On occassion, my Nokia 6230i also fails to connect. When this happens, I have tried disabling/enabling BT on the phone and also power-cylcing the phone. Also tried power-cycling the radio and the car. Also tried deleting the pairing on the phone. Once it gets stuck like this, the only way I've been able to get it to reconnect is to delete all pairings on the Toyota BT (not just the pairing for my phone), then add it back.

This only happens occasionally, but correcting it is so painful, that I now use the BT in my Garmin Nuvi 760 which has never failed to connect.

If only I had a BT protocol analyzer.

Re: Tuning Bluetooth in new GXL

I had my Bluetooth unit replaced with a unit from Fujitsu Ten that had the microphone gain turned up (or whatever the fix was meant to be for the difficulty people were having hearing me).

The problem is no better. The call I made to the service reception was taken by a receptionist who was happy to be witness to the problem. I have complained again to the dealer and am wondering what will happen now.

Has anyone else who had the Bluetooth fix from Fujitsu ten noticed any improvement in ability of others to hear you ?

                        Just to recap:

                        Excellent signal strength
Excellent sound quality for received calls
Callers hear me very poorly even though Cabin is quiet (windows up) and I have my head turned towards the small hole on the audio unit for the microphone.
Have tried 2 different phones to exclude software issue (6230i & currently 6120 both of which pair easily & consistently)
Have had bluetooth unit exchanged for Fujitsu Ten's "fixed" unit.

What the hell could it be ?

Did I speak too soon. The trouble & stife tells me her Nokia phone is no longer connecting properly. Will try to reset the phone, etc., and see what happens. Hopefully a quick fix and small glitch.

                              I have a Nokia E51.
                              Didn't connect after a bit.
Simply turned the phones Bluetooth off and on again and all was sweet.
                              Phone problem? Car problem? Dunno.
works ok in every other respect.
