i think the best reply to this question is to press the go pedal, bring the revs upto about 1800-2000rpm, the alternator will top the battery up to the best of its ability, but not quick enough, so short bursts r the go and allow 30sec in between cycles, but everyone has different methods. cheers samo

I would say that you dont have to increase revs at all. If you are winching till your battery goes flat, then your winch will have a short life as will the battery.
By the time the battery has recharged the winch should have cooled enough.
