That's a Brilliant Price, I got a set a while ago through a mate "at cost" and paid $275, about 2months before BCF started selling them for $279. Either money very well spent I reckon.

Hi Chester
What type of roof rack bars do you have fitted.
I've got the Rhino/Toyota heavy duty bars. With these I think that you could use some flat bar and a plate nut to fashion a mounting bracket.
Cut the flat bar a little wider than the Maxtrax, mark and drill holes at the same centers as the Maxtrax mounting holes.
Drill hole in the center of flat bar to allow for plate nut bolt to clear.
could weld nuts to mounting holes on plate and use a longer bolt in one with a hole drilled through for a security padlock.
These plate nuts are available from your roof rack supplier or electrical wholesaler as (Unistrut nuts).
I have used M10 and M12 in the H/D bars but watch the bolt length can bottom out on the roof rack internal web.

After attaching the flat bar across the HD roof racks, drill and tap M10 holes to match the holes in the Maxtrax. Then use a star knob to secure the Maxtrax. Drill through the thread of the star knob for a padlock

The company I work for uses Concept Fasteners. Currently waiting on pricing from them for both zinc plated and stainless steel.
Bunnings may have them but might not have the range. Farnell, RS and Blackwoods should have them although Farnell and RS are usually overpriced.
I reckon a 50mm long thread should be enough for 2 maxtraxs and a padlock (depending on how thick the flat bar is). I have some 10mm ally at home.
Seeing as a hole will be drilled into the spindle, it is probably best to get the stainless version.

Cheers Andrew. Stainless would be the go. I will try Blackwoods as there is one not far from me. I was toying with the idea of a solid piece of angle to mount on my crossbars at around 70 degrees so the Maxtrax would be on their sides so I have room for my basket also. I'm not sure if noise would be an issue...and unsure a) how thick the angle would need to be to support the maxtrax. b)how long the base of the angle would need to be that is fixed to the cross bar (probably long enough for 2 fixings?)2004 V6 Grande.
