I suspect you'll find the shipping will actually cost a fair bit more that 60-70 AUD as they are quite long.
Indeed it does. I recently tried to ship a pair to USA and the quotes were coming in around $400  (iirc). The problem is that they exceed the maximum dimension for standard post, so it requires a specialist carrier.

Have you spoken to Maxtrax directly? https://maxtrax.com.au/
Last time I spoke with them they were preparing to ship a couple of pallets worth of them over your way... might be an idea to ask who are the preferred suppliers in your area to make sure the people you are talking to are the people getting the best wholesale price rather than marking up a retail price.

My wife actually bought me a set recently however we returned them as they are not that useful in Victoria.
What - not that useful in Victoria?

Don't you venture off the black top? What sort of PPer are you? You must have mud, and sand, and gravel. Wait a minute, I've been there, I've seen it. And snow, you got lots of snow. And rain, it's always raining over there (when it's not hot and burning). Don't your creeks flood and turn the gravel roads to mush?

I wish my wife would have bought my Max Trax, then I could have used the money to buy myself something else for my off-road expeditions.

Was in a 4x4 place on Saturday and overheard some people asking about Maxtrax. Store guy said the factory had temporarily ceased production because the guy behind it all was in hospital????? Said that nobody knew when new stock would be arriving? No idea if the story is true.

I definitely know that ARB here in Perth has them... Hovered... but didn't bite.

Well I will send an email to Brad and see how he is, he is a pretty fit guy and likes to get out in the bush when he can.

It'll be interesting to see if the story is true or not. Rumour mills can be nasty things. Hope nothing too bad has happened if it's true. The last thing we need is for the Maxtrax factory to close as it looks like they're onto a good product there. Besides, they're still on my list.

                              Hi Ben,

I know they are available at ICON, I am just trying to find out if I can buy them cheaper. It seems that we pay through the nose for everything here because retailers are under the impression that everyone here is on vacation and makes money by the bucket load, how wrong!

The couple of retailers I spoke to from down under already told me that they do not ship overseas, my last resort would be somewhere in Asia if I can find them.

At these "mad" local price, I will only consider them if I plan on doing more offroading by myself, which would make them mandatory.

                              Thanks for the heads up.

                                Hi all

Just a backup support for the mighty Maxtrax. I took two other trucks for a run along the beach at Whitehills today and we discovered that the beach doesnt exist a little further down. Steep slope to water and three trucks over the edge trying to get the others out by snatching.
We had 4 Maxtrax that none of us had ever used before and I can tell you that we all will be buying a set as soon as the pay comes in. $300 or $60K drowned...hmmm not much of a choice. They are the most brilliant things I have ever used in sand.
We were in very serious trouble as none of us had a winch, wouldnt have mattered anyway as the bank was to soft and would have dragged you down to me as well. The water was getting under my Prado as we got the other two out of the way first.
Couldnt even shovel out as no grip to go up bank...just further down toward the water. Exciting feeling.
Two moves over the Maxtrax and I was back on the level ground......I AM SOLD TOTALLY.

I have also found that Prado's are so much better in the sand than the big Cruisers.....to bloody heavy and slide down very quick.

                                Watty
