I've read on this site that the Toyota Temp gauge is designed to not move from "normal position" unless there is a 12 degree temperature change...

I have a petrol and haven't done much towing, but mine usually sits at 85?/86?.
        Your readings sound normal.

Normally sits on 85 - 86. Occasionally creeps up to 89 for a few minutes then drops back to 86. Doesn't seem to matter whether towing or not. Speed seems to be a slight factor on the highway as there is no variation when driving around town. Despite the variation in the digital readout as per scanguage the dash meter doesn't move.

Anyone know how to get the scanguage trip meter to read the same as the factory dash trip meter? I've got the speedo and scanguage reading the same but scanguage will read that I have done 600km when the dash says 570 - 580ish.

It will never be the same. You need to use your GPS to get a more accurate KPH. None of the speed-o's in the vehicals are ever correct. They are always or most always showing faster than you are really going. If you change your tire size it even throughs it out more. I take my scan gauge and correct it to the GPS speed. I have checked this with three different GPS's running in the car at once and they were all within 1 kph of each other +or-. IF your dash states lower that means you have lower Km's on your rig. If it was the other way around...well that would not be to great as you would only be driving 'x' km's and it shows 'y' km's and you have run your clock up unnessesscarly. Just my two cents worth.

Select the menu button (bottom-right I think), then follow the options until you have SPEED displayed. Whilst driving you can select the +/- buttons to adjust the speed accordingly.

As karrathaprado2 mentioned, if you're after accuracy, then set it according to a GPS reading, rather than your dash reading. That's the best option imho.

                  Cheers,

Done all that. Got the bigger tyres (265/70). Adjusted the scanguage with Decataur Mobile Radar and GPS. Speedo, GPS and radar all reading the same 50 - 120km/hr.

I guess it's no real big problem.

I haven't adjusted the speed on my SG. It reads about 1kmh faster than my GPS, and about 6 - 8 kmh slower than the dash speedo.
I only use the SG when glancing down to check my speed now, I find it much quicker and safer.

Gday Matt. I purchased a SG2 for my Prado a few months ago and still haven't worked it all out. I haven't come across the Speed function yet, but will keep mucking around with it. My water temp hits 90 deg when towing the boat (2.3t) and 83 deg without.

                        Cheers,

                          G'day Wags,

                          It's been a while.

It certainly takes a quiet moment to work through all the different options. Wait till you start adding XGauges... that's when the real fun begins. I have mine running fairly accurately now, with the speed matching my GPS and the litres-consumed within just 1 litre or two of what I fill up with. That has become very handy. One particular time, my wife rang me, alarmed that she had only just noticed the fuel light, and wasn't sure how long it was on. After I asked her to check the SG, it indicated just 150 litres used. That's about 300kms remaining before vapour.

My water temp is typically 85-86, and it doesn't seem to matter what type of driving I do. Though, I could imagine towing 2.3t would start to heat things up!

                          Cheers mate,
                          LFaR.
