Have the 2003 1kz and towed a Jayco Heritage 2 1/2 tonne all over Aust, for 10 years. Van did 100,000 klms and 1KZ has 204,000 and still going as good...

Got 180,000 out of the original front pads and 204,000 from rear pads, towed a 2 1/2 tonne van for 100,000 klms of that with no problems.

The more sensible swap would be to replace the 1kd with a 1 kz. Wouldn't touch a common rail until the problems have been proven to be fixed permanently,...

1KZ 2003 GXL, 212,000 klms......... 22ft 2 1/2 ton van on, flog it and I only get 600 k's till empty, back off and sit around 95 kph and get close to...

When you say temp goes up, by how much ? Have towed 2 1/2 ton with mine in air temps in mid to high 40's and temp only rises about 3 to 4 needle widths...

Love my old 2003 oiler, rock solid after 200k+. Went to have a look at a new one and the condition on showroom floor was real crap. Dirty everywhere...
