I have done a search in regards to shaping a d4d engine into a 120 series prado with no luck. I am sure it has been done and there would be a post on it here some place on this site. Can someone please point me in the right direction.

As the 1kz are sought after tough vehicle, sell it for good coin.
Then buy a 1kd d4d cheap.
There are cheap ones around, because many peeps think selling the vehicle with worn injectors & buying a new vehicle s a better option than spending 2-3k on what's really routine maintenance every 5 years.
Ends up costing them a whole lot more, & the new vehicle is a CRD too, so funny stuff.

The more sensible swap would be to replace the 1kd with a 1 kz. Wouldn't touch a common rail until the problems have been proven to be fixed permanently, not a stop gap measure. The old slug may use slightly more fuel but goes forever. With the reported problems with ALL brands with common rail, I would be more inclined to go back to petrol unles you were towing heavy loads all the time. Less oil changes, no need to spend $$$$$$$ on replacing injectors frequently etc.John
