Not that I know of. Spoke to the importers and said only for the d4d as they have a much later sophisticated electronics system and many more sensors installed.
We are lucky, we have the old banger that has been around for years and has VERY few problems :P as per the d4d . Was going to "upgrade" but changed the mind after all the problems they seem to be having as per this forum.
Put a DP "chip" system in and the thing goes much better, just be mindful that by getting more power you are generating more heat and don't flog it un- necessessarily. Use the throttle until you don't feel any further responce, back it off a little and the temp should stay within safety zone.

Now watch me get howled down..

        Hi All

Have a ScangaugeII for the last month, and a very happy with an easy plug and play solution for a trip computer to be installed into the Prado or any other compatable car. Doing the usual drive home after work on "auto pilot' just thinkin, and looked down at the scangaugeII sitting on top of the steering wheel stem and thought..... What would happen if your were pulled over for say speeding? and the officer looked into your car and asked whats this device sitting there. Explaining what it is is - could he say (knowing what it is) what has been your MAX KMH for today saying on that baby. I know other cars have trip computers already built in - legally they could not access to say your speeding? Have to be caught in the act at the time. eg Travelling on a long trip max speed limit 110kmh here in WA - passing a truck once and just happen to do 125kmh oops - scangauge records this reading. Your thoughts? Assume in courts etc could not be used as evidence?

You are worrying about nothing. Imagine the below situation - what would happen in this case?

          Top Speed

Would need more evidence than just that.

A Scanguage/In-built trip computer/GPS etc isn't a gazetted device for legally measuring your speed, so I don't see how they could use it to fine you.

            • G’day,
I have an interesting issue with my ScanGaugeII which became apparent on a recent Adelaide – Sydney – Mungo NP – Adelaide trip towing our Outback Camper. I have had the ScanGauge for about 4 months and it has performed superbly to date on my 08 GXL TD. I have the adjustment set at 43% (which appears common), fuel usage was usually within 1-2 litres – all in all a great device. However, when we began our trip I noticed the ScanGauge appeared to be reading higher fuel usage than normal and when I filled up it had over read fuel usage by about 20lts. I reset the adjustment to about 30% and it seemed to be more accurate for the rest of the trip. I haven’t had the opportunity to measure it following the trip but that will be interesting!?!
The question is has anyone else had to make such a large adjustment when towing? I have only done small trips with the camper to date and not had an issue of this magnitude.
Any thoughts or other experiences would be appreciated.
              Thanks

                G'Day,
any thoughts on my problem from those fellow ScangaugeII users? Keen to hear from anyone that may had a similar experience or be able to offer some advice. I sent a copy of my post to Ample Outdoors but still waiting for a response.
                Cheers

Okay - received a response from Brett at Ample Outdoors with a suggested solution so in case anyone else has this problem now or in the future I have included their suggestion below. It may be some time before I tow again but will keep an eye on performance of the SGII and let you know if this works.

                  Cheers

                  Hello Jeff,

Most likely this is a problem with the FUEL CUTTOF setting in the SG2. You could try setting the cutoff value to zero, go to MORE>SETUP>FUEL>CUTOFF.

We have had a few reports of this occurring on Turbo Diesel vehicles when towing for several tanks loads. Linear Logic in the US have said the best way to reduce or eliminate this issue when towing is to turn off the fuel cutoff setting in the SG2 by setting it to zero. We have passed this information on to several people who have contacted us, but have not received any feedback on if this actually worked.

If possible could you let me know how this goes.
