Similarly, I finally placed my order today given that our new car SHOULD arrive BEFORE the end of this month... Now to just start finalising all the other accessories on my wish list. 8)

            Hi All,
I've recently purchased a scangauge and have connected it all up OK. Had a small problem though with the location of the cable. I routed the cable up from the OBDII port up through the dash by the steering column and mounted the display unit on the steering column as others have done. When I started the scangauge up it connected fine and started to display data as you'd expect but after say 30 seconds the display started to show gibberish, basically random digits over its screen. It would stop this after a few minutes, and then start again in a bit, as well as when I turned the engine off and then started it up again after the scangauge had gone to 'sleep'.

I then took the cable out from under the dash and now have it running up over the steering column with the excess cable curled up on the other side. The display, and the unit generally, has been running fine since - over the last couple of days, only trouble is it's not very neat and tidy! It seems as though there was some electrical interference coming from somewhere. Has anyone else had the same problem? What did you do about it?

            Thanks for your help

I would be looking at trying another cat5 cable and seeing if that is where the problem is. You can pick them up at dick smith or tandy pretty cheap. I have mine mounted above the rear view mirror and it actually looks real nice up there:

No, I haven't experienced this at all. My cables run from the OB port up behind the dash and along the steering column with no worries at all.

Mav, how do you go with the unit moving around when pushing the buttons? Is it still stable enough? I guess another set-up option, but I still prefer mine just above the steering wheel below the dashboard. I reckon this location is best suited for quick and easy reading (along with the other guages).

No problem with stability the mount is made for the scanguage and it has seen some pretty bad corrugations and still mounted nicely. I like it cause it is directed to me and at mey eye level basically. I use the speedo on it to set my cruise all the time and I like checking the litres/hr.

I too have a problem with my scangauge. It isn't even a 2 weeks old and the screen is blank. The backlight is on but nothing else. Prior to it going blank the screen was frozen on the "gauge" display. I have unplugged/plugged back in with no luck. Will probably take it back for exchange.

Prior to it playing up it was great for the trip to Qld and half way back when it went kaput.

Mine has developed an earthing problem on the backlighting cct such that it randomly flickers around the colours but mostly settles on green. Other than that it has been and still is accurate on readouts.

Thanks Mav. Went back to Wooders and they replaced the whole thing - the unit and the cable. All works perfectly now so don't really know if it was the cable or the unit.

Sounds like some good service from Wooders.

Same thing happened to mine - turned out it was the cable socket on the unit that was 'cracked' - was replaced by Wooders straight away!

No problems with our unit. Still going strong since installation in early October 2008.
