Guys, just wondering if anyone has a car kit in their prado and if so does it mute the radio when the phone rings, the installer that put mine in today says that toyota would have to remove the radio and install a wire for this to happen and that he couldn't do it as it would void the warranty. I have never heard of this before as all of my cars including the rav 4 have all had radio mute.

From what my vehicle installation guys tell me the Toyota radio has a mute input already on it and it is reasonably easy to connect it.

I would suggest your installer was being slack and didnt feel like removing the centre console (not hard anyway?)

Might be worth asking further at some of installation companies then going back to complain.

On an AU Falcon I had to search for the mute terminal, a bit risky too. I made up a wire with a tiny fuse, 1 or 2 amp I think. Connected one end to ground.

Then used a multimeter to test if any of the wires on the back of the radio were active, cross them off.

Then used the fused test wire to touch one terminal at a time of the non-active terminals until the LCD on the front of the radio said "MUTE" or whatever.

Like I said, an element of risk if your not careful, maybe luck as well, but it worked.

Update, i rang the boss today, he is coming out in the morning to fix it. definately can have radio mute.

Yeah , radio got a mute pin - all you have to do is to connect it...
Theare pdf file with pin layout on lcool...
