From my experience with the old style bonnet scoop it makes no noticable difference to power or economy. Any improvement if there is any would be very minor.

    But it does look great

    Cheers Andrew

Performance gains? Water pouring over engine during river crossings? Who cares, it just looks great. Image is everything isn't it?

I'm not totally knowledgeable on things mechanical, but I was wondering if it was possible to fit a thermo fan onto the intercooler? This when turned on at Low Range speeds coupled with the scoop would reduce temps and increase airflow. This is an idea I have been kicking around for a couple of weeks, just trying to find fan sizes and available room under bonnet.

Ondabout - Despite the fact you drink Coopers, you're a good bloke. BUT....... there is no way you're practicing on my rig. I would however be interested in getting a few of us together to obtain a better price for this mod.

Yep it is, been done a few times. Have a look here

DocK in that thread also has a bonnet scoop although he has the Rav scoop for that truly unique look. BiG Trev is another Adelaidian with the fan on, his is the 1kz and he reckons it makes a big difference power wise.

              Cheers Andrew

That's right, I remember Iantz telling me about Trev. I might drop him a pm to get some ideas.
                    Thanks AJ.

Not sure fitting a fan on the D4D is an option. Well not the standard fan anyway. Will look closer once the job is done and probably rig it to run at the same time as my one on the radiator (Grande setup)

Fitted the new model Hilux scoop over the weekend. Very simple once the measurements are spot on. I used a stainless steel cutting blade on a jigsaw to minimize heat distribution through the rest of the bonnet. In for paint today and final fitting tomorrow.

Just realised I hadn't posted any pics in here after the fitment of the scoop.

what are the bits that look like blockouts on either side? are you able to post a couple of close ups at all?
