I wouldn't.

Use shackles for the equalizer strap only. Thread the snatch strap onto this.

You're right - the fewer potential missiles introduced into the mix, the better.

I would use a shackle in the join from the snatch / winch extention strap and the equalizer strap.
Other wise you will burn the equalizer strap where the two parts of nylon material rub together.
The straps will slip to thier settling point cause damage to them.

I hadn't thought of that one. I wonder if the manufactured 'equaliser' straps have a loop sewn in to prevent slip ?

no they dont have a loop but they do have a reinforced centre section.

G.day,
I think the equaliser strap is a good idea however I would not rely on the the factory tie downs for snatching a good option. The outback Idea recovery point seems the go.
With the ARB bullbar I think the recovery point would suffice for winching only.

Have purchased outback ideas recovery points and yes is very tight with the radiator on the passenger side.

Chippy, did moving the radiator around work??

I intend on heading up the cape in sept but don't want a hole in the radiator from the bolt rubbing!! Anyone's experiences on that bolt from the outback ideas recovery point??

Haven't had a chance to try it yet - but there is plenty of room to nudge it sideways 5 (or so) mm - that would create all of the space you need.

I'll keep you posted, this weekend, if I get a chance to look at it.

I too am looking at putting some recovery points on the D4D that i have just picked up.

I have the factory (budgy) bar on the new pardo, and i was wondering where you purchased your recovery points from?

Also, I am wanting to put a protector plate on the car (at the front), any suggestions where i can get some plates already made up from? or plans on what sizes to cut out for the recovery plate/s (up front to protect from under the b/bar and any other vunerial point on the prado.

The gaurds (suitable for use with a sovereign bar) are avaliable from ATS in Geelong. They will ship if your not located in that part of the country.

Anyone fitted the Outback ideas recovery points with an ARB winch bar and bash plates fitted. There just doesn't seem to be the room to fit the recovery points around the plates. Thanks,

The later model Prado's have substantial recovery points built in from new.

If you do a search on this forum there is a couple posts that show the difference and that it is not really needed to add the other ones from Outback ideas.

If there still welded, then there not "rated". If there not rated I wouldnt touch em with a barge pole

The ARB integrated reco points with the bar are a rated item, as are the outback ideas product (ATS do one's the same)

Please dont risk using non rated items in the pull line, it is a disaster waintin to happen
