I took my Prado on its first off-road trip last weekend. Went up to Baal-bone gap (near Newnes). Had a great time, despite the storm hitting when we were half-way along the track. Got back on the main road and stopped off at Katoomba to check the 3 sisters on the way home. Found that I had lost the LH rear mud flap. Not only that, but in the process had broken one of the holes on the side that the mud flap connects to, thus creating a problem when fitting a replacement mud flap. Also bent the metal strip at the back that holds the mud flap, and loosened the flare that surrounds the wheel arch and loosened a connector off the rear bumper. Must have hit something pretty bad, but I don't recall it (perhaps having too much fun). Went to Toyota to be told that a replacement mud flap is $90!! Also got a lecture from spare parts person about not taking Prado off-road. Shudder to think if I hace to buy additional plastic bits such as flares plus rear bumper. I guess I will be trying some home remedies this weekend.
