Found a quick fix for this one ....grabbed some half inch (ID) stainless spring washers and put them between the door and the bottom hinge. It now lines up perfectly. Not a bad effort for 50c!

Happy man now I just have to get out of the habit of slamming the door

      Prado rear door sill

HI I have a crack in the sill near the hinge on the rear door.
Last year I have made a claim to warranty. But they refused to cover it.
Therefore, I took it to Department of commerce WA.
However, they reached a conclusion which the warranty would not cover it.
But I can see on the forum people talked about same problem and they were successfully covered by the warranty.
Can anynone give me suggestion what I can do.
By the way, I bought 2008 120 series prado from grand toyota wanngara Perth and warranty is called Auto asure protection which is Allianze.
      Cheers.

If its an extended warranty through an Insurance company, then congratulations you have purchased as very expensive, but worthless piece of paper. The only warranty that is worth having is the factory one. The 'extended user car warranties' are not worth the paper they are written on. Hence any MAJOR issues should be identified and in the 3 month government mandated warranty period and fixed then. Your unlikely to get anything covered by the other warranty.

Top tip!!! My door has a split due to damage from wind on opening. 2003 private sale so trying this as my door dropped at least 9mm is a great start... Also use your wheels to get onto the roof rack, not the rear door, maybe the added to my grief?

Thanks (BradLee). Fixed in 20min solo and FREE!

Had a go at this, took som pics and had it done in no time.
Bit of a juggle holding the door weight up with an Eski tower as I lined up the over sized washes from the shed!!!!
But thanks PP & BradLee for the info, go do it!
Now a paint job and to start saving for a new door!

              door

I had my door changed on my insurance last year. The new door lasted 14 hours and split again. I went straight back to the repairer and they fitted another new door. This one lasted six months before cracking, must be a design fault, not enough metal or welds in the door. Dont care anymore just slam the f..ker.

Is this only an issue with the 120 series? Any reports of it happening on the 90 series?

                  door

No the rear door on the 90 is as strong as. I left mine open on my old 90 (not on purpose ) one day ,drove out the drive and round the corner at the end of the street. The door swung fully open and nearly pulled the car over on the corner. Not a mark on the door. If you did that with a 120 the door would probably rip off.

Resurrecting an old thread. Got quite a hefty crack in my 2005 model. Has anyone managed to repair this at all rather than have to replace the door? I don't mind if it looks a bit tatty if it saves me the hundreds a new door is going to cost me. I know people have shimmed the bottom hinge but it strikes me this will just get worse?

                    Thanks

Same here , even the panel beater, whom Chadstone Toyota ( VIC ) referred me to , advised re-welding the seam was a waste of time, and i should go with a new door , hinges and guide latch to be sure everything was aligned again .... total cost approx $2,500

Looked at ordering a new strut that doesn't allow the door to swing open , see facebook 'STRUT YOUR STUFF GAS STRUTS' or www.strutyourstuff.net.au and also adding washes to the bottom rear hinge as already described on this post , as cheaper alternative fix .

                      thx
