Hi all, I'm new to the prado world and have been doing a lot of research before purchasing. I'm looking at buying an 06 to 09 with the d4d. My only hesitation is the cracks in the inner guards. On the few Prados I've checked out, small cracks are starting (mainly on LHS). I've read heaps of what causes it and seen the photos, but what I want to know and can't find info on, is the repair.
-Does the repair involve a simple weld up of the crack / tear?
-Once repaired, does the guard then find another place to give out?
-What preventative measures can be taken to avoid it happening (bracing of battery tray?)?
Also, is it even that big of an issue? I plan on setting it up with bullbar, winch, possibly duel battery (all the good bits as many of you do). The car will be a daily but driven on road with weekend adventures. Possibly only seeing corrugations once a year.
Any pics or personal stories are appreciated.
