Ahhh thats cool ! I have seen a couple of those down this way, the first one I saw I had to go around the block and have another look I have also seen one on a 100 series and a couple of 70 series utes made by the same mob, I think they may be alloy though so weight isnt such an issue, I doubt it would be any more than a ARB steel bar.

I doubt the footpath brigade would appreciate them in the city

      Guys,

I'm taking my Prado into a place in Geelong in the next few weeks who are going to measure up and make a full set of side-rails and steps for me. We believe that we can gain maybe 1 1/2 inches of extra clearance between the ground and the steps.

I will post photo's when i get them done.

I've got access to a CNC mandrel bender at the moment (one that can do heavy wall tube) so if I can free up some time I might have a crack at the side rails myself.

My only concern was the fact the big boys (ARB/TJM/OL) don't make them, I assumed there was a reason and I was thinking it might be the crumple zones.

It doesnt look any better in the flesh, sore it at 4x4 more in Brisbane waiting to be delivered, looked like it was sitting fairly low, definetly not designed for off road use due to the poor clearance at the front corners of the bar. Be great for touring in roo country, nearly indetructable

                    Re: Scrub bars/ Front rails

In the last 6 months, it seems mining companies really like the full cow catcher/brush bar set up.

                    http://www.tuffbullbars.com.au/Prado.jpg

Most of the work-prados in western qld are now decked out this way, along with the 3m UHF aerials and std RM, ride-a-cowboy and Bundy stickers

You can feel the weight up front, the approach angle is worse than std (it hit going over a washout), but not to bad for most of the high speed dirt roads. Apparently there is not much more weight in the whole setup than an ARB bar with a 10 000 winch.

Kind a makes the sovereign bar look very metro-sexual

                        Re: Scrub bars/ Front rails

Sounds good Joey, something a little more useable off road should do the trick. There would be a few interested buyers

If everything is bolted straight into the chassis, with enough space btw the bars and the body work, it should all wobble together ??

Have you asked/looked into a bolt on replacement rear steel bumper bar with slider points, decent tow hooks and Hi lift jack points ?

havent got to the rear of the rig yet......
but i think it will be on the cards towards the end of the year...

i have to stop sinking money into the rig and divert it to the boat.....but its hard not to

                            Re: Scrub bars/ Front rails

Good luck to ya Joey. I'll be interested to see the outcome.
I asked a Brisbane ARB store 6 months ago about the Brush Bars and Steel Side Steps for the PRADO.
Their response was that there probably wasn't enough enquiries for them which is why no product is available, only in Aluminium
I couldn't understand this as they had them for the Hilux and surely there would be little difference for the PRADO.
I was given the details for another 4WD Supplier who would probably fabricate a pair of steps/sliders for me.

Yikes.... that TUFFBAR from Spurio's post is F%^&! Ugly
If that Bar was my missus, I'd wanna wake up and chew my arm off.

                            Regards

Yeap, dumping that on a prado is kind a like sticking a beard and beer belly on Elle Macpherson (sorry bit out of data with the supermodels)

There must be a market out there though, I must have seen at least 100 of these just in Western Queensland !!

With all the doubled up barwork, I think the designer may have been inspired by Mad Max
