  • Rear Bumper Repair Cost

    Hi,
Does anyone have a price guide for what it would cost to remove and replace a rear bumper? I had a minor collission with a tree while 4wd driving.

Im getting quotes for repairing the bumper as well. Just need to know if the quotes are reasonable or if I'm redding taken for a ride.

    Thanks,

No idea, but now you have damaged the rear bar - replace it with something strong.

Kamar is popular but exxy, ours is MCC and has survived multiple outback trips with no problem. Bolts direct to the chassis. Carries dual spares on our trips.

There are other brands as well.

The thought crossed my mind however I don't to spend the money on my current car as I'll be getting rid of it in 3-4 years.

Depending on what else needs replacing and if you go OE or aftermarket, from $1000-$2000.

Photoprado - Does the MCC require a cutout of the original? If so you still have the damage.

The MCC we installed replaced the bumper bar. No damage to the original bar and no cutout. The rear plastic bar removed and the MCC replaced it:

I had a quote to remove and replace damaged factory bumper with same including paint, the price was $770 , Brendale Qld. I was hoping for a higher quote as I wanted to go down the Kaymar route and get insurance to pay some but my excess is a $800 to get things going so better to just pay out of pocket an not affect my no claim bonus.
With the kaymar RSB you need the side returns to be in place to enable trimming to suit the kaymar. Pretty sure on 150 it is the same with most after market RSB. My bar is only damaged in the centre so the idea of swapping works.

Apologies for the partial thread hijack, but can I ask Photoprado, how does the towbar work with the MCC bar? Do you have any pics of that?

                  Good question.

Our 120 has the standard Toyota towbar, and it works fine:

I think Hayman Reese towbars also worked ok on the MCC, but others may need to be checked. Would have to ask MCC.

To remove and replace a standard rear bar would take about an hour tops. Don't know what Toyota charges for a bar but paint would be a couple of hundred.
