Tightening Drivers Wing Mirror Fold Back Action

Hi All
Don't know if anyone else has had this problem - when using strap-on extension mirrors attached to the drivers side wing mirror, the buffetting from some passing trucks causes the drivers side mirror to fold back against the window. While this folding back is great if I hit something with the mirror, it is a bit of a nuisance when passing multiple trucks.
I cannot find any adjustment to this fold back action, and at my last service, dealer said there was no such adjustment on the mirror.
Can anyone advise if there is any way to stiffen up the fold back action? (apart from occy straps back to the bullbar to help hold it in place)

I had the same problem.
I use the occy strap between mirror and bullbar too.
Look a bit funny but works well.
I doubt there's an easy way to stiffen the mirror hinge.
I'm looking to get those towing mirrors that mount on the door rather than the car mirror.

I use a couple of fishing rod wrapping straps with velcro, and fishing line or thin rubber tied between strap and extension mirror, (can hardly see them) and only takes 5 seconds to fit or remove. Leave one end tied to extension mirror and wrap velcro strap around bullbar when using .

Definately not mirror adjustment, apart from approx $600-00 + for new mirror. Spring loaded ballbearing into slot in mirror, which wears out quickly if extension mirrors are allowed to flip in and out all the time.
Took me a while to wake up to fitting the straps. bugger.... :evil:

Thanks for your input - I had not thought of using fishing line - probably a bit safer than having a tensioned occy strap waiting to fly around when putting on or removing. Going away for a few weeks at end of month, so will try it out. If the problem gets too bad, will then look at the Clearview mirrors.

Just back from up north, and experienced very strong head winds down the north coast, the drivers mirror was folding in every few minutes. It got to a to the point, I just left the mirror folded in.
There has to be a way of tightening the mirror foldback action. Maybe a couple of nylon washers somewhere? Has anyone had any success?
