    Probably pull mine out again in the next month so will have a closer look then, but sway bar removed, two bolts on the bottom ball joint and undo the strut is all I have ever done.

    Put my billys in last week... sway bar off, tie rod end off, lever down on the LCA, strut popped out.

      Hi AMTS,
      Do you mean you disassembled the front struts without spring compressors? Or just removed the strut?
      I just had a lift fitted, they damaged the front right abs wire, well they said they didn't but I have a christmas tree of lights on the dash that wasn't there when it went in... the wire is out of the brackets that tightly hold it in place (or used to). Usual story you get ... not our fault, don't want to fix it at their cost... just garbage really. I have spring compressors which work a treat on larger diameter springs. If I could have changed the front without them......!

        Yes, you read that right. No spring compressors the 2nd time round. And it took 40mins from reversing the car out, finding my tools, remove the strut, put back the large washer I missed, rotated the coils as it came in contact with the UCA, and packing up. Didn't even have to remove the sway bar. Just disconnected it. The sway bar mount stayed on the chassis with the bolts loosened. Also, the strut top cap stayed on the chassis.

          That was just one side though, and I already had practice the day before, and I knew what tools I needed.

            Turns out both of my ABS sensor cables had been damaged. Why stop at one?? I can only think that the weight of the unsupported hub stretched/damaged the wires. I can vaguely remember reading an article these should be diconnected and not being allowed to take the hub weight, but i could be mistaken.

              Yes since then I have managed a new socket set and other bits as I told the wife how embarrased I was with you standing there watching me!!
