  • To T3 or not to T3?

After having the stock set of stoppers since I bought the car and after the usual mods the current set up just isn't cutting it for me.

My question is; is upgrading to DBA T3 rotors all round worth the cost or will T3 fronts and T2 rears still cut the mustard pretty well?

I'm also after a few opinions on pads to couple with the new rotors, I have heard good things about the QFM A1RM pads on other forums, but not seen much on here, any opinions on these? Possibly even part numbers?

    This is what I found:

    T2 Slot Design

    • Patented ‘Kangaroo Paw’ ventilation design* provides greater heat dissipation
    • Bi-Symmetrical T2 curve slots dampen the vibration harmonics or noise, resulting in a quieter, responsive and smoother brake pedal feel
    • T2 slot design provides even pad wear and assists in minimizing glazing of pad surfaces
    • Non-directional slot design eliminates the need for left and right discs
    • Paint protection on non-friction areas enhances appearance

T3 Slot Design Offers the additional benefits over the T2 Slot Design

    • XG150 High Carbon Alloyed Iron increases the thermal capacity properties of the rotor over the T2 material
    • Tri-Symmetrical T3 Slot design dampens the vibration harmonics resulting in a quieter, responsive and a further improvement of brake pedal feel when compared to the T2 slot design. The T3 slots also provide rapid brake recovery after exiting water crossings.
    • TSP (Thermal Stability Profiling) prolongs the service life of the rotor. This process is only applied to HEAVY DUTY, T3 4X4 and CLUBSPEC rotors containing XG-150 high carbon alloyed iron.

I bought T3 for front, T2 for rear and Bendix 4x4 pads. Not installed yet, but they look great in the loungeroom

      Cheers for that info, photoprado.

Got a quote back for T3's all round for $825 and $120 pair for the A1RM pads. Not too shabby considering the T3/T2 combo would come in at ~$700.

Given their isn't a huge price difference, T3's all round looks like it's a goer.

Yea, I figured the main brake load is on the front, so that was where my focus was. If there is a T3 benefit, I reckon the front would have it first. Probably wouldn't notice a difference between the two on the back.

          T3/T2 was $675 for me.

Ended up taking the plunge and choosing the T3s all round even if their isn't too much advantage over the T2s in the rear.

Stockist didn't have A1RM pads, so opted for the Forza FP3 pads in their place. Pretty new brand here in Oz, but the track day crowd seem to be pleased with them, good brake feel from cold etc etc. Time will tell i guess.
