  • Where I can find Performance Brake Rotor

    Hi

I have Prado FJ120 and need to know where to buy Performance Brake Rotors ( Cross-Drilled & Slotted ) .

I searched everywhere on Internet . All merchants had items for FJ Cruiser and 4Runner not Prado . They didn't mention Prado at all .

Insomuch some merchant when I asked them doesn't know Prado as brand from Toyota .

I'm from Qatar and here there is only for Cruiser . But I need for Prado Exactly

    thanks

I'd go slotted and not cross drilled

Slotted rotors are noisy when the pads get hot. Makes a rumbling sound.

I had them on my previous car. I wouldn't do it again.

do you think that had anything to do with the brand of rotors you had gxl_d4d?

I was thinking of getting a brake upgrade to my prado as my brakes sort of have that grabbing reported by many prado owners and have been told by a friend this is due to crap rotors in the prado. He said an upgrade would fix the problem.

I don't think the rotor was the blame. I had Protex rotors and TRW pads. I've heard the same noise on cars with DBA rotors. The type of pad used makes some difference. EBC Green stuff didn't seem to make the same noise and they also took a lot more breaking before the noise became really loud. Might have had something to do with pad temperature.

I was flicking through an old issue I have of 4x4 (Jan 2007 I think) and Ron Moon did an article of his upgrade to his Patrol with DBA rotors (dimpled and slotted) and also an upgrade of the pads, and reckons it was one of the best upgrades he has done.

I am considering upgrading my brakes as I get that 'grabbing' feeling whenever I brake, particularly when the brakes get hot. I only bought my Prado about a month ago with 94,000kms on it, and will get the brakes inspected before any decision is made.

I have heard this fault is common and has to do when the rear brakes in particular are consistently put under heavy load, like when towing a camper or trailer. A friend of mine who was a mechanic for Toyota for 6 years said it happens because the rotors warp under the stress, and even though they can skim the rotors, due to the process of skimming this only a temporary fix.

Considering I will be mostly touring in my loaded up Prado and travelling at 110km/h, I want a good set of brakes to pull the Prado up with and wanted to know if anyone had done a brakes upgrade and their comments.

I don't know for the Prado 120 but for the Prado 150, the V6 version has bigger front rotors than the diesel-version.
Don't know if it could work?
