I think the winch will always have it's time coz I think lockers will get you deeper in the poo at times, but in this instance a front locker would have got me thru, rear locker was dragging me over, 150 with traction control made it after a bit of track building. Always good to give the winch a workout, it's not just Bling on my Prado.

That's how hes getting round at the moment... 20 metres at a time (and VERY slowly).
If its a long trip he gets the extension strap out and can cover 30-40 metres...
            Cheers

              Gents.

Jest if you must. You both cut me deep in my hour of dispair. True friends would be sympathetic to my sensitivity at this current time.....

Ok, that's crap. Get the beast back this week. Can't wait!

Actually given that the battery would be flat after listening to non stop rockabilly the winch wouldn't work either!

just to add my 2c worth..

I fitted an Aussie (auto) locker to my rear diff 6 months ago and it has drastically improved my rig's off-road ability. I've got a V6 auto. For the amount of times I've actually needed or intend needing a difflock I think its worth it. The ARB in my mind is rather expensive and prone to issues. The clicking sound is minimal around corners or in roundabouts and you cant hear it if the windows are closed.

Useful thread this - thanks! I'm liking the sound of the E Locker for my 5sp man. Was quoted $1595 + $550 fitting for front and $1499 + $550 fitting rear (-$80 on fitting if I get both done at same time) by OL in Adelaide (South). :???:

Yeah mate that's in the ball park for pricing. I have both ends done, love it but was also on a knifes edge on deciding on an auto locker in the rear and selectable front as another great option and it can save a bit of cash as already explained in here.

+1 This is my experience although I don't have any clicking at all, even with the windows open..

I've seen a few of these LSDs pop up on eBay. Wondering if it would offer any benefit to my Prado with an open rear diff as it has traction control etc.

No gain in adding an LSD to a traction control system. You essentially have an electronically controlled LSD.
