  • Auto Trans Delayed Upshift

Hi guys, recently picked up an '05 GXL 3.0 auto with 145k on the clock. Pretty happy with it so far but a bit concerned about the trans shift. The 2-3 and 3-4 shift seem very late, to the point that I find myself backing off the throttle to get it to upshift. I had a bit of a look for a kickdown cable or something similar to adjust but couldn't find anything. Is the trans fully computer controlled? I was thinking that maybe the TPS needs adjusting.

Do you know when the box was last serviced? Any difference in the shift between hot and cold?

1KZ? There all fully electronic controlled
Mine takes ages to shift up especially when cold not as bad when warm but much longer than I'm used to in other cars

Hi smally, time for a visit to Symo in town for some new Auto Trans Fluid I'd say!

I have heard you can disconnect the batt and touch terminals together to drain the capacitors 'wipe' the ECU's memory and let the trans re learn but Id talk to someone that actually knows what they're doing first!
          Cheers
          Micheal.

Thanks guys, not sure when it was serviced last but the oil appears to be pretty good. It does seem a bit worse when cold. Was going to service the trans soon anyway, will look into the relearn procedure. I just want it to shift a bit earlier, the guys at work (Mitsy dealer) are already giving me a ribbing for not buying a Paj!
