Need new Clutch 120 series, can anyone recomend a good place to get it done Brisbane/Ipswich area

Well guess it's finally time to look at a new clutch. 221,000k's, no slipping but throwout is making a clattering noise when in neutral and foot off clutch. Could do it myself but a bit on the heavy side so looking for any recommendations on where to get it done.

Or anyone to stay away from as well.

Stick with genuine is a good option there.
Not sure where.
Some extra grease for the bearing might be good too.

Why do you say that #######? I need a new clutch and a gearbox overhaul too. Haven't been that impressed by the Toyota clutch and looking at other alternatives?

They usually last well 200+k & no problems.
There are other options, not always cheaper either.
Exedy
Clutch industries
Highway/valeo
& others.
Lots of manufacturing is going to cheaper places & plenty of quality is going out!
Toyo clutches seem to still be good.
If it works well, why change?

If you want heavier you could go exedy safari tuff.

The clutch has always been very heavy right from go and particularly my wife found it arduous to drive. I bought my Prado at 43K (ex mining so may have had a hard early life?) and its now done 143k. Since about 2012 the thrust bearing has been making a whirring noise with the clutch pushed in at idle which is getting worse and its been slipping a lot more now.
I take your point about off shore manufacturing and dubious quality. Where are Exedy or Terrain Tamer manufactured do you know? Does Toyota make a heavy duty clutch and is that going to be heavy on the clutch peddle too?

The thrust bearings are often noisy, same (NTN i think) bearing in all brand kits.
The open bell housing lets dust & water & mud in. Silly really.
That muddy water in your avatar will piss the bearing off every time.

You certainly don't want it any lighter duty, but there may be a problem.
The snout where the bearing slides is shit, it's alloy on the 6 speed, dumb idea.

I think exedy is Japan made, I think it's a Toyota company? Or Toyo have an Interest? Subsudiary? Not sure!
I think they make toyotas clutches & every other Japan car manufacturer too. Quality I think so.

I put in a HD Exedy Clutch after the original Toyota one started slipping (290+k). My wife drives it 90% of the time and neither she nor I felt the difference in the peddle.
