auto trans dipstick removal

Is there a trick to getting this out?

I can find no reference in the owners manual to this!! ie checking the fliud level.

Mine has a bendy clip which holds the dipstick in. Pull the clip aside and pull the dipstick out.

I filled up through the dipstick using the nozzle of a caulking gun and a funnel
