  • Prop shaft seal leaking

    Hi

Just posting to let people know that this has happened to me and is being fixed under warranty next week. Can't find previous evidence here and the dealer claims it is a first for them.

It is the front shaft where it exits the gearbox and seemed to start suddenly and is leaking enough to leave a patch on the concrete overnight!

D4D Auto with 65k on it.

They are also going to replace the passenger door trim which is loose (there is a campaign notice apparently) and admitted there is a problem with the engines beginning to rattle loudly when cold but Toyota doesn't yet have a fix. I'll go onto the contact list so they can fix when they know what to do. THey suggested they might replace the injectors????

    Cheers

    Hi Tez,
Thanks for the info, this rattling data is getting better by the day it seems Toyota need some better Engineering Co-ordination so that all dealers at least sing the same song.

      Re: Prop shaft seal leaking

I just noticed this on mine when I was greasing the uni's and prop shaft. The black bash plate under the front drive shaft was filled with oil. I've only done 12000km. The seal was probably leaking from day one.
