  • V6 Clutch. Which one?

    G'day all,

The clutch in my 4.0L V6 Prado is on the way out (starting to slip on hills and when giving it abit).

I'm currently looking around for a new clutch kit. Just got a quote from Autobarn for a Exedy 'Sports Tuff' clutch for $1000

What clutches has everyone put in there 1GR-FE's? And what did they cost you?

Any info or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    RT

I fitted a Daikin safari tuff which is now an Exedy to my Patrol. Heaps of clamping pressure and it was around $1000 fitted. I'd get one again...if I had a manual

Ended up ordering a 4Terrain clutch. 50% clamping pressure above standard.

      Pick the kit tomorrow

        Re: V6 Clutch. Which one?

Does anyone know if any other parts are needed to change the clutch on a 5sp 4.0L V6?

No seals or gaskets are needed?

        Any help would be great

If you're going to the trouble of removing the gearbox, you may as well change the rear main engine seal. They generally don't cost much ($15 to 30).

If doing the job yourself you may need to have the fly wheel machined to remove hot spots in most cases need to be done and if taken to be done by mechanic would normally be part of the quote

                Re: V6 Clutch. Which one?

I just got quoted $725 for a heavy duty Exedy (parts only) is that good or bad?
Mechanic has quoted $600 or so to fit!!
Why oh why are Prado clutches $700 and Landcruisers $300?
