I'm up for a new battery now also and am able to get the Century Yuasa NS70X battery at a real good price (Staff price for me through a contact) but if I can find a good deal on a Blue top (34M) then I'll squeeze the plastic out and pay the extra. The specs on the 34 yellow & Blue are identical except for as mentioned the extra posts on the Blue. I dont have a dual battery sys yet so this would be perfect for me in the interim.
Sorry to hijack LD2.... Thought it was relevant?
However LD2, this may well suit your needs as you have the dual Batt setup?2004 V6 Grande. BLACK -

Just rang BatteriesDirect (link above) The D43M is currently $299. This battery is my preference now. As I mentioned, at present I dont have a dual Batt system and this battery has the added benefit of supporting Deep cycle appllications with a quick recharge ability. I am not intending at this time to run accessories days on end without the motor running and this battery I am told is also far more forgiving if "run flat" than a standard cranking battery which is a big positive. The only thing I need to do tonight before I order is check that my leads will reach across the top of the battery to the other side, otherwise I will need to change the lengths by some means...2004 V6 Grande. I need another battery but not for the Prado, might swap a few batteries around and get an Optima for the Prado, Prado battery goes into Hilux, Hilux battery goes into tip trailer! the extra terminals would neaten things up a bit.
Looks to me like the D27 would fit perfectly apart from the terminals being on the wrong side, but they all are, or am I missing something.

AJ120, I think the battery tray on the Diesel is longer than that of the Petrol and the recommended battery for the diesel is larger also. Therefore the D27 is compatable for the Diesel 120's. Battery length of 120 Diesel is around 305mm for the N70ZZ (Century Yuasa) and the Petrol is 258mm for the NS70. Looking at mine (Petrol) the larger battery would probably squeeze in but 40mm or so would be a) overhanging the batt tray & b) be hard up against an AC Pipe. (not really worth it when the D34M is an 800CCA battery anyway)
Edit: Sorry, Just noticed that LD2 has a D4D so you're right, theres no reason not to go the D27....Last edited by craigm; 12-07-2011, 11:00 PM.2004 V6 Grande. BLACK -

This may be a silly question but how do you add onto such a heavy cable?
Would it be better to replace the cable than extend it?2004 V6 Grande. BLACK -

Guys as most batteries are available with reversed terminal configuration, why not just get the
same battery with reversed terminal configuration and turn the battery around, then you won't
need to extend the cable?

Well then I suppose it depends on what size you want but
the D27M has reversed terminals, it is a blue top and suitable
for start and deep cycle.
