I'm currently shopping around for rust protection for my 120 series. Anyone have any opinions on electronic, chemical or both? I'm also wondering what brands are seen as the better ones on the market.
Cheers
James
hi,
i have been using the couplertec for ten years now...
i had it first installed to my patrol....when it was 6 months old some a
nasty person scratched the left hand side with a nail..at some points it was
down to the undercoat....i sold it after 7 years with the with no rust...the color of the patrol
was metalic green...also a few times stranges at carparks asked how kept the paint
so shiny...( i only polished it twice for the time i had it.). now i have it on the prado (white)
and again i have only polished it once since i bought it and if you seee the shine on it it is like
i bought it yesterday....for me i think it works but then again it makes me feel assured that something is there.
with the patrol i did the full paint protection, fabric protection and undercarriage protection..what a waste of money.
with the prado i saved my money....
just my thought...
I have a 4 pad Couplertec system, and thinking of getting underbody spray done through this mob www.rustfree.com.au - the stuff they spray on is awesome and sets rock hard, got them to do a test on my sump guard as I wanted to check it out before I got the whole car done.
I think that EPRS and couplertec work fairly similarly, both companies boast theirs is the better product and the other's doesn't work due to the way the system is set up. Got mine at the 4wd Camping show for cheap, so if you get a chance get some prices from them.
Good luck with it.
Anyone have any opinions on electronic, chemical or both?

I looked into the electronic systems a few years ago and was quite suprised at what turned up.
The systems were banned in many US states as the claims of preventing rust were
deemed false and misleading.
I don't know what the situation is today over there, but there was a recent discussion on a patrol forum in Aus. Basically, the discussion went along similar lines.
So, to answer your question, I don't think I'll ever be using it.
