Gents,
Here's my problem: Every so often when driving, my Battery light will flash. Not very often, but it has been going on for some time now. First thing I did was check the Belt which is tight and fine, second thing was to test the alternator and make sure it was fine and all seems to be normal.
After a while, I noticed the frequency increased whenever water would get into the engine bay (washing or 4WDing) which leads me to beleive the sensor might be getting a bit wet and faulty? I also replaced the Battery recently but this didnt remove the problem so it only really leaves me with either the alternator or the sensor. Anyone else have this issue?
Secondly... just to complicate the issue further; the last few weeks the Battery light problem has been increasingly bad. Gone from occuring every so often (noticing it flash maybe once or twice a week) to now flashing on almost every trip, and sometimes staying on for a prolonged period. Even worse though - now my ABS Light and Handbrake lights will also come on and stay on sometimes while driving. They will either flick themselves off after a few minutes, or I need to pull over, turn the car off and then turn it on again and they will generally go away.
When it was just the battery light I wasn't overly concerned... now however, it is a different story. Any suggestions? A mate has suggested I get underneath and unplug any and all sensors/wires and give them a squirt with Lectra Clean to see if this helps. Anything else? I know enough about the mechanical side to get by... but electrics are another story all together!
Is there a single sensor that might be messing with this? The ECU screwed up? Any advice would be great. Thanks gents
