I guess the individual members can decide, some tow vans on highways and some try to ascend Ayers Rock.

      Cheers and thanks,

Thanks Wags, I appreciate the comments and your right, there is something to be said for doing things yourself. Most things are quite simple and straight forward and can be untertaken by thise that do not have a mechanical engineering degree

Love the amount of pics so that I can put the laptop next to the car and keep checking the pics.

Dont suppose you have any more pics of the cabling to the rear etc ????
Where it went thru and what cabling joined the battery and the circuit breaker.

Amazing site this one, nothing is impossible for us novices now with all the wealth of information on here.

Looking forward to the next WA trip for sure, wish I was going on the prospecting one but alas there is a problem called work.

I will try to remember to take some more pics tomorrow.

      Cheers

......and both end up driving corrugated dirt roads sooner or later, they are kind of hard to avoid when travelling Oz.... it's only $100, thats like two cases of good beer... cheap peace of mind.

Here you go learner52, some extra pics.

Cable going through the firewall to the rear compartment for the fridge power.

Conduit hiding the battery cable running over the firewall.

Conduit again coming down the other side to the REDARC isolator.

Redarc and you can see the earth aswell.

Cable going from the main battery to the redarc.

Looking down at the JAYCAR circuit breaker.

Next couple of shots show how the bracket was mounted. No holes drilled in the rig.

And while I was at it, I thought I'd better chuck some conduit over that cable as it could eventually rub through.

Thanks for those pics mate, worth a thousand words.
I have a diesel '08 D4D so a little different as I cant place my redarc where you have yours, will do that on the firewall I think?
The cableing and the circuirt breaker mount etc is ideal. Will certainly start putting the tray etc in place asap and get the rest later.
Makes it look easy for sure. I imagine you have said in your post what size cable you used to run down back, will go read.

            Thanks for that

Re: Step by Step TD 120 Dual Battery Instal with pics. Finished

Thanks for all the pix. Certainly made it an easy job. One thing I did was to slot 2 bolts through the drilled holes from the bottom up (so that bolt heads were behind the fender splash guard), that way I didn't have to drill through guard.

Great pix, great fit. Many Thanks!

Re: Step by Step TD 120 Dual Battery Instal with pics. Finished

Thanks for the excellent step by step instructions. I am plannig on doing a similar setup. Can someone tell me what is the max length of battery that will fit in a Piranha tray? I do not wish to ignite a battery debate, but was thinking of the Delkor DC27 (deep cycle 80aH) but it is 320 long, which is a bit longer than the N70 size. Not sure if it will fit. Any other options - what are people using? I do not want to go the AGM route at this stage due to cost (and weight/guard cracking risk).

                  Thanks in advance

                          Hi Mitch (Mumsrig),

I've just looked at your comprehensive photos of your Piranha battery tray installation. I noticed that you installed the large washer supplied in the kit between the battery tray arm and the inner guard. When I installed my tray, I didn't put a lot of thought into it and just placed the washer directly under the head of the long M6 bolt supplied. Thinking about it, I really don't know what the designer of the kit had in mind as my instructions were delightfully vague on this point. At the time though, I did think that the large washer was to maximise electrical contact with the earth cable lugs and the bolt head. What logic did you use, please?

                          Thanks Glenn

No worries. Like anything, try and keep it simple and research your product.
