Indicators and radio issue

Hi people,
I'm having an issue with my radio turning off when I indicate.
It turns the sound off for 3 seconds then back to normal. Very odd and it only just started happening. It's sometimes random but I've had it do it 4 or 5 times in a row.
2007 gxl diesel auto if that helps. 173000kms.

Anyone else had this issue?

Any help is appreciated.

Have you got the factory head unit or aftermarket sat-nav?

Sounds like what happens when sat-nav talks, it mutes the radio/cd/mp3 for a couple of seconds...

Factory cd radio, basic gxl spec.
It completely cuts out as soon as you indicate. Very very strange.

If it doesn't do it with anything else the only thing I can think of is the turn indicator
stork and the steering wheel controls are close to each other, maybe an issue
with the clock spring, shielding perhaps?

Other things, do you still have standard bulbs etc?

Does it do it if you flash the high beams?

No steering wheel controls.
Standard bulbs etc and it only does it when indicating.
Do the gxl have provision for steering wheel controls?

Our gxl has steering wheel controls but it is face lift 07. Before Oct 07 didn't.

I'm fairly certain mine is early 07.
I have a development. While the stereo is cutting out the interior lights are flickering as well as headlights.
I suspected a dodgy alternator but I just checked it for charge voltage and it's charging 13.5v at idle.
However after being under the bonnet for 2 seconds touching only the battery terminals it has fixed itself again.

Also have a side issue of the engine not stopping straight away when turned off while its playing up. It's like it hesitates to turn off.

Maybe just a dodgy earth contact?

I'd be cleaning both battery terminals and hoping for the best!

I'll give it a look. I won't hold my breath though. I'm thinking this one is going to be complicated.

Battery terminal were fine.
Gave it a service ahead of schedule and changed the fuel filters and done an intake clean and it hasn't played up since.
Maybe it was just cranky....
