  • Interference from fridge

Whenever I have my ARB fridge running it seems to interfere with the radio. I assume that this is through the antennas in the rear glass window.

It creates quite a distortion to the sound. Anyway of fixing this?

Are you running from the Inverter or on 12V.
    The inverter may cause interference.

I have the same problem in the 150, it's the proximity of the fridge to the powered antennas in the back window. I was looking at the new Engels and noticed they are now shipped with a separate earth point specifically to stop this problem.

I was going to post up a thread asking how I should do this on an older model but I'll leave the question here and see what comes out.

I had terrible RFI on AM from my fridge, I did find a bulletin from Danfoss about rearranging the wiring in the internals of the fridge, basically each pair of wires needs to become a twisted pair and I also installed a couple of inline filters from Jaycar.

The danfoss compressor controllers convert the DC input to AC for the motor and this is what can be heard.

Result - no more interference. I am currently looking for the bulletin..

Edit - can't find it but it should be in here http://www.danfoss.com/Pacific/Busin...umentation.htm Have a fish around in there, most RV fridges use a BD50 danfoss/secop compressor.

ok that makes sense the inverter in the fridge not the on-board inverter.
if the fridge is mounted in a draw system you could shield the inside with aluminium and connect a good earth.
