Re: Lighting question with a twist!
bob,
i am presuming you are using a std type relay,
ie
1. power in from Battery,
2. trigger wire from switch (wire to switch is from from headlight connector pin? )
3. earth - from relay
4. power out to spotlights.
Where you have the wire from the relay to earth, take this wire off and from this relay pin run a wire to the other pin on the headlight connector where you connected the switch wire from..
There are 3 pins, 2 vertical and 1 horizontal, do not connect to horizontal, use the other vertical pin that is spare.
cheers, Rod
ps if your toggle switch is the illuminated type, do not hook up the earth from the switch for the little illumination light as this will earth out the system..

Initially I added a plug and play 35W 6000K HID hi and lo kit from these folks
http://www.hidworld.com/cart.php?target ... ory_id=250
Easy enough to fit but the forward beam penetration is just OK because of the headlight beam pattern.
Next I've installed a pair of Narva 225's driving lamps (with a Narva harness etc) - spot and spread beam combo's converted to 55W HID from these nice folks - and yes on a level straight road it will illuminate 3km's!
http://predatorparts.com.au/lighting.html
Now the query I have is - to operate the driving lamps I have to switch them on and off via the standard Narva switch, they operate after the headlights are turned on but I would like them to operate when I flick the high beam stalk and use their switch to turn them on or off should I so desire.
The nearside standard headlamp connector is plugged into the hi/lo HID harness and I've derived the live for the driving lamps from the offside headlamp connector cable which is live when the high beam is operated.

Re: Lighting question with a twist!
Thanks, any chance you could detail what colour cable is connected onto what terminal number on the relay?

Re: Lighting question with a twist!
bob,
wiring colours depends on the wires you are using..
std type relay:
pin number 30 - power in from Battery,
pin number 86 - trigger wire from switch (wire to switch is from from headlight connector pin )
pin number 85 - normally earth, but in this instance, run this back to the other pin on the back of the o/s headlight
pin number 87,87 - to spotlights.
cheers, rod

?????????????????????
Thanks Roddy
Are you using a standard Narva wiring loom?
"pin number 30 - power in from Battery"
I understand this OK and it is connected in this way
"pin number 87,87 - to spotlights"
I understand this OK and it is connected in this way
"pin number 86 - trigger wire from switch
(wire to switch is from from headlight connector pin)"
I don't understand??
"pin number 85 - normally earth, but in this instance, run this back to the other pin on the back of the o/s headlight"
I don't understand??

I don't understand?? because the HID doesn't use the std o/s headlight connector, this std connecter is now just 'floating in the breeze', i connected 1 wire from here, to the switch - then from the switch to the relay.
"pin number 85 - normally earth, but in this instance, run this back to the other pin on the back of the o/s headlight"
I don't understand?? Because the HID doesn't use the o/s std headlight connector and because it is simply 'flaoting in the breeze' you need to complete the circuit. So instead of running pin 85 to earth, run this back to the same connecter. :?:2005 VX V6 4.0L, Pearl White, Sovereign bar, nitestalker spotties, Tow Pack, Headlight & Bonnet Protectors, radiator bash plate, sandgrabba mats, cargo mat, DVD in headrest, radiator insect screen,
