Just an FYI .... as this happened to me on my 04 GXL.
Unlock the doors with remote, open the Rear drivers side door and after a small amount of time the car would lock itself.
The fix for me: Turned out to be a dodge door light switch. Most of the time the switch would work enough to make the lights come on... but sometimes the lights would not come on when I opened the door. Either way I eventually tested my theory as I thought the switch was had it. So I opened the door and pulled the switch with care but still firmly outwards. I was hoping that if the switch was faulty it might make a decent contact with my pulling on it... As it turns out this is what the problem was.... faulty switch not correctly forming a circuit... which appears to not only turn on the interior lights but also deactivates the car from locking itself.
i.e. Tells the Prado that you have accessed a door and that it should not lock itself.
Replaced the switch and the problem is gone for good.
