  • Chippy,

    Thanks, looks like the goods.

Just read the owners manual, it says not to attempt changing the parking lights yourself, take it to a dealer....eh :!: Anything tricky or hard to do here?

    Thanks,
    Cheers,

    • Okay, tried to remove it nothing too difficult just a bugger of a place to get the hand in, so have to remove the batteries. Wish I done the lot with the Headlight upgrade.

Oh well thats for another day now

        :? :?

No idea why they would say that.

They are a simple blade style globe that fits into a bayonet style holder.

The holder is best reached from underneath .... from up behind the bullbar .... as there's bugger all space left behind the lights.

Grasp holder .... quarter turn to unlock .... pull out ...... replace globe .... line the holder back up ..... quarter turn to lock.

Sorry if I'm missing something vitally important here ..... but I didn't see any major dramas.

Plus ..... it all works still.

        Cheers

        • You are right, if I had the Alloy bar . I have the ARB bar, which requires the side pans removed. So I opted for the batteries to come off, bit easier.

          • I just did my forst real test drive with the fatboys and HID modified lightforce Blitz 240's and all I can say is WOW!!!

It was a joy to drive at night again, I had briliant low beam and the high beam was just magic.

We counted 74 big reds between Alice and Erldunda roadhouse. They are in plague proportions at the moment so beware anybody driving up through the Centre after dark. To top it off they were big buggers to boot.

We were listening in on some truckies talking about a truck that hit one early this morning just north of Erldunda and how it had ripped the trucks bullbar off on one side. I saw the roo and gees it was huge, as big as a mallee bull.

The HID Blitz's were just fabulous and lit the road up like daylight, very impressive indeed.

            Cheers

fitted this set a week ago, and so far not happy with light output. just wondering if anybody here upgraded the wiring loom to maximize the light output...

                thanks

My FatBoy globes lasted around 18months, one blew and then a week later the other went. Picked up some Narva +50 globes for a quarter the price and cant see any difference in light coverage. The only difference was a very slightly whiter light from the +50 (I had one +50 and one fatboy in for a week).

Bought some Narva Blue Power bulbs (claim to be up to 80% better) over the weekend and had a mate help me fit them last night. Well, to be honest, he fit them while I drank beers. Hahaha! Despite the name, the light does not appear blue. On the heat range, they are 3750K and show a good white light without appearing to be in the blue spectrum.

Cost was $60 from Repco, but also came with park lights. I bought these over the Fatboys purely due to cost. I kept my old globes just in case...

My mate didn't need to remove anything other than the grommet behind the lights (I have dual batts too) - took all of about 5 minutes, which included me sticking my head in the way to have a look.

After drinking a few more beers for it to become dark I drove home (no I was not over the limit), I thought the light output at low beam was better. The true test will be tomorrow night while driving for a weekend away. The roads will be less well lit, so should show up whether its a worthwhile upgrade.

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier Butane, but I've been away.

The globes are still going strong, with no dramas so far (touch wood).

For $60, I reckon its definitely a worthwhile upgrade over factory but I can't compare to the IPF's. Not sure if its 80% better, but its $60 better. If I needed to I would do it again, and maybe might try the Philips version next.

The only criticism is that after an hour or more of being on, I reckon the light becomes less white and turns more yellowish, although that could just be my mind - not sure. Not sure if my spotties are also playing tricks and compounding this issue as I do have blue covers on them, which when I go from having all lights on back down to low beam, may make my eyes think the low beam is yellow (not sure if that makes sense :? )

I've got the Philips Power2Nite (I think) and they work pretty well. A lot more powerful than the stock ones so that you can see the road at night and also around the same coin mark. I had a look only the other day through the list of Philips lights and there are some non ADR compliant lights something like HID but not HID that are supposed to be real powerful. I think I recall reading about the same thing on LCOOL I believe. Just can't think of the name but it is like HID but not.
