I just fitted a Narva Plus 50 to the drivers side this afternoon but there does not seem to be any difference between it and the factory globe on the passengers side.

Has anyone tried the Narva Artic Blue globes? I am not going to fit HIDs as I do not want to risk a non compliance sticker.

I use lightforce 240 XGT's and they are unreal. I have posted info regarding these lights elsewhere in the forum and generally, they do a great job for us. You do have to be careful not to flash oncoming drivers though..

          Cheers,
Yes, I have the 240 Blitz on as spotties but the pain comes when you have to drop to low beam on the Prado. You may as well strap a white cane to the bullbar for all the good the standard low beams do.

Which is why I was looking at changing the standard globes over for something a bit better but still ADR approved.

On a few chats with the boys down there they reckon they are the goods.

They haven't lead me too far astray yet. One day when i can justify the expense i reckon i will throw a set in.

I am also itching to get a set of Fatboys mainly for lowbeam operation, but I am not convinced of the light output.

Like Mav I would love to convert to HID headlamps, but was head on with a 75 series the other night he had HID headlamps and I was badly blinded, flashed him with my HID drivers and full beam Sh#t bad mistake his HID's were on low beam, I found out the hard way.

Therefore a HID conversion on the headlights is out of the question as they are a pain for other motorists on two way roads unless using projector lenses.

Well I received my Fat Boys today, they came with IPF harness as well so I will install them probably on Wednesday this week coming and hopefully I will see a marked difference in light output.

                    Hi Mav,
Look forward to see the results, you have got some nice flat terrain to compare light output.

Yes, after I committed to buy them I saw a post of yours where you said something similar but any improvement on the pitiful low beams I have now is better than nothing.

I am about to convert my Lightforce Blitz 240's over to HIDs, going with a 50 watt 5000k kit so I think I should be okay with high beam capacity.

                          they do make an improvement..

i put one in and checked the beam intensity on the wall vs the stock bulb, and there was a difference

Well I got mine from the US and I put them in today and I am still seeing spots before my eyes damn it, don't look into these babies when they are on. Lesson learned the hard way.

I had high beam on with my Lightforce Blitz 240's on at the same time and my 240's looked like yellow candles in comparison and this was during daylight hours.

They make the reflector have a blue look to it but my goodness they are bright. They produce around a 5000k kind of whiteness if you know what I mean. Mine came with a short harness as well which I have used.

I just took a photo of the container they came in and I never realised before or just did not notice it but it actually says 5000k on the container.

I will try and take a photo but tking a photo of lights in daylight is pretty difficult, I wil give it a go and see what I get. I will try and do a comparison between the 240's and the headlights.

Okay these photos do not really portray the intensity of the light coming from these globes but they do effectively show the colour temp of the light against the Lightforce Blitz 240's. I also took a close up of the pencil beam spot and one with the spread filter on it.

First one is of the fat boy installed in the reflector, note the blue colour of the globe.

Next is a front on colour temp comparison between the fat boys and the 240's

Next is the pencil beam compared to the fat boy:

Next is the 240 with a spread filter fitted compared to the fat boy:

Like I said they do not really show the intensity of the light which is quite blinding when viewed directly front on, I took these slightly off front line as the camera did not like the intensity of light from the fat boys. It handled the Lightforce yellow colour temp better.

Well I drove out to work tonight just on dusk and there is a definite improvement in my low beam performance. I hate driving into the setting sun as it makes your lights pretty useless in that half light but I could still see an improvement.

                                Matt

I thought the $2XX on the Xenon lights was money better spent than the Fatboys.

Whilst they were an improvement, the HID's were much better, particularly on low beam.

Apart from the questionable legal issues, I'd recommend the HID...
