HAHA, thanks to Mav for the tip-off and JJT for doing the photos cause I just fitted mine too and I'm wrapped. Just shy of two weeks from the states and yeah, like previously mentioned, HID is probably better but little wary of the legalities. Thanks to all for the tips.

    Matt
P.s Clifton, you wont get the exact same from ARB apparently.

          My 2 cents,
As they say Matt, if it only saves you once then it was well worth the money.

Just put my Fatboys in tonight.

I'm blown away by how much better they are than the factory lights, which are a disgrace.

I've spent around $9K in accessories on my Prado and another $8K in camping equipment and fishing equipment... and the lights are the very 1st thing I should have done.

            Shame on me.

              Cheers,
              They are very, very good.

I was expecting a 10 - 20% increase. This looked twice as good. I saw things in my neighbourhood street tonight that I've never seen before.

The originals driven around on suburban back streets with mild lights, you actually could not tell if your lights were on... they are that bad.

I pulled up to a few cars on Main Intersections (and heavily light) and I was emberrased that it appeared I had the mother of all spotlights, blazing into their cars. At the next few lights I was starting to keep larger distances between cars so as not dazzle and illuminate the occupants.

I still can't believe I've waited all this time to get these. The factory ones are a downright accident waiting to happen.

              IPF spotties are next.

Would love to see (in the flesh) how much better HID's are but can't be bothered with the legalities and the prices.

Edit: Had the IPF 900XS on a Sorrento a while back. A Spot and a spread. I was not that impressed with them to be honest. I was expecting the whole countryside to be lit up.

Will go with same, but 2 x spots this time. Would like to compare with Lightforce 240's but they are too "in your face" for missus's liking.

                Hi-
I had 2xIPF spread on last car and have gone 2xIPF Spots... Well next week ARB is changing one of them to over to a spread - The spots are real good on long Straight sections, but I just dont like the fact the light at the side is not spread enough for the bends/coreners in the road...

                Just my comments!

                Cheers

I have not been in another car coming towards my Prado but I have seen another Prado in town that is also running these light globe assy and the light is not scattered all over the place. I noticed that the Prado was different to normal Prados but I was not blinded by stray light.

Since I am still waiting for my Prado, I am driving my wifes VZ Commodore out west to work. One of the inner high beam H1 globes had blown. I bought a set of the IPF globes. They aren't Fatboys as they aren't H4, however they have the same output rating (150W) with the lower input rating.

The difference is amazing. I am looking at getting some Fatboys for it also. I have found a place in the US that sells them over eBay and they are cheaper than buying them here from an ARB dealer. I'll be getting some for me Prado too!

If they are only for the fog lamps it shouldnt be a problem, because they can only be used legaly in the fog, 3 points off your license if they pull you over for using your fog lights at night in normal conditions in Queensland

I like the light ouput from those fog light globes but as has been stated the fog lights are only legal when you are driving in foggy conditions. Unfortunately the colour temp of these globes will not helpl in foggy conditions in fact they will do the opposite to their purpose. Foggy conditions requires a more yellow colour temp to gain penetration into the fog so a colour temp down closure to 3000 would be a better solution.

Now if like me you use the fog lights more for enhancement in clear conditions in the outback at night with no other cars for 100's of kms then these replacement globes are a great proposition.

                              Hi JJT,
The fog lights look fantastic and this is something i have thought about as a cost effective stop gap until the driving lights can be coaxed through the financial committee.

I was also concerned that the difference in output would be negligible, your pictures certainly answered that for me.

A couple of questions though, Did you need any wiring upgrade and do you think that you may have any drama with the lenses (heat and yellowing etc)? Finally, where did you find them?

My Fatboys are on the way from the US, however, I did read after placing the order the they say "turn them off when stopped or parked". I wonder if they mean that they get very hot and so if you are stopped you should turn them off. Has anyone had any diofficulties with heat?
