Re: fog lights upgrade of globes?

I could have sworn that I saw a 120 in Dubai with Xenons fitted for the Fog lamps, they looked NICE and bright. I did not stop the guy because I had my 90 series then and did not make sense at the time

How much wattage can these fog light globes and OEM wiring take? They are absolutely useless as compared to my Nissan Pathfinder's for example! Would definitely invest in new globes if they can take Xenons, but I still have not found what I am looking for :?

Re: fog lights upgrade of globes?

With all this talk about getting the rear fog lights to work, I came across this site http://www.cheaperoz.com/z/result.jsp?q ... fog+lights . Not sure what they are like or if they are just work by plugging them in but it is another avenue to look at for those looking at this option.

Just a reminder that QLD has just made it an offense to drive with fog lights on when the conditions do not warrent their use (not foggy or poor conditions), NSW it has always been illegal

            Re: the use of fogs

dont plan on using them, till im on my own..i dont use the leds around town, i only want to
update the low beams , for around town, the hi beam will get sorted out with a bullbar( spotties )
happy with the difference the leds made to side visuability on the spread side of things...

still want to change the rear fog to brake, still pondering ideas...

              Re: led's illumination

just a update while the rest of you are still in bed

Had the chance to light up the led's/fog's last night out on unlit roads, and play around with different combinations
.... the led's filled the shadow from low beam to the bonnet with a wider spread ( like the stock fog's... never existed...), but the noticeable diff.
was in supplementing the shadows of "the low beam light projection" . it aint rocket science, mount a set of led 6000k
driving lights next to the stock fog and there is a nice difference, worse thing now is I want the globe update evan more,
and i really hate waiting  $$$$

thanx to all for the PP posts on light upgrades still sorting it all out, the information content is outstanding.

for such a little difference every mod counts .... (I'll go and take some photos tonight) it'll keep me happy till the bullbar and lights get bolted on!
              LED's (ebay $79,p.p) cost V's improvement = 8/10 butane
please rate maybe i scored to high?

Re: fog lights upgrade of globes?

have installed the philips globes in the headlights up front.used crystal vision (4300K) but have recently been told can use the diamond visions(5000k).have also upgraded the globes in the fogs to visionplus(3500k).much better than the standard globes however the colour difference between the fogs and the headlamps is noticeable

I have a blown IPF Fog light bulb in my ARB Sahara Bar (old type) which currently is running H3 55W. Not that I use them often, and being a tight ar$e, I have a spare set of 100W H3's in my garage so is it safe to swap these over without overloading anything? Like I said, I use them rarely and I thought that they've been sitting in the garage gathering dust, why not put them to use and save a few bucks..? I assume everything is switch by a relay these days so I wouldn't thing I would be inflicting any more load on the witch etc...
Hopefully there's an auto leccy out there with some good advice?

                  Cheers.

Just done the very same exercise on my Sahara bar which is the older style with the IPF Foggies. I'm unsure if your light pod is a different style to mine but on mine the fog light/indicator pod is secured by 3 nuts onto a removable bracket that clamps the pod in place. You could grab a compact camera and stick your hand in through the top side and take some snaps to see where these fixings are first. The easiest way to access the nuts though, is to remove the stone guard on the side which need to be accessed (obviously). My IPF Foglights have a square weather proof box at the rear wihich requires 2 screws to be removed to take the cover of to exposed the back of the lamp to replace. I replaced the drivers side on Monday and although I could (just) reach all the nuts from going in via the top of the bull bar to remove the pod, the electrical leads were to short to pull the pod out to replace the globe. The passenger side would be harder because of the plumbing in the vicinity on mine so the easiest option is removing the stone guard here also.

I'm looking to swap out my IPF fogs, which I never use, and replace them with an LED DRL. The Narva option looks ok, anybody know the size of the IPF fog? http://www.narva.com.au/products/bro...-running-lamps

once i fitted the deluxe ARB bar .. without fogs/driving spots .. i got the arb new style lights and drilled to holes top and bottom of the pins in the inserts,. used some good guage black electrical wire and twisted 'em on the back of the insert.. never had a prob with adjusting or unwanted movement .. the new series arb lights were only $50 .. and they match the prado headlights nice... food for thought ...

                            cheers butane

I want to do the same... i'm sick of the ARB lights in the bar (which are both blown on my car at the moment) ...and with all the other LED lighting on my car at the moment, i want to switch to LED... these ones look pretty good (nothing available ex-china seems to be any good)

extremely curious to find out if one of these fit in there ok....

if no one else knows, i'll make a job of pulling out my ARB lights this weekend to find out...

....really want to do something with the indicator/parking light in there too!

I have already fitted the LEDautolamps parker/indicator combo in mine.

The existing IPFs are 100mm and the Narvas are 90mm, I wonder if the 10mm difference will be noticeable.
