Hey guys, I think drls are a great addition for safety and for bling factor lol. Will be installing philips daylight 8 drls in the near future to my arb bar in the empty slots below the driving lights. Would prefer the factory look as well but don't fancy baking the headlights apart to install them in there

Until then I've upgraded the crap indicator Parker combo to an led version. I just drive around with the park lights on and get a similar effect to drls. Not as bright but being a dark car anything is better than nothing to make it more visible

Oh go on... give em a bake! I bake headlights on a regular basis for customers wanting colour matched headlights, drls and projector beams installed.

Word of warning, do it when the wife isnt home.

Those 'empty slots' are actually designed to let air flow into the radiator...

Might have to get baked one day then RanJ lol
The drls I want to mount are pretty slim D4D so I can't see them blocking to much airflow, no worse than 3 or 4 spotties that I see mounted on some prados. Hmmm now that would look good lol
Got the LEDs off ebayhttp://http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/1111...v=SEARCH&sbk=1 there led auto lamps same as they sell at autobarn, ADR approved. I've got the older deluxe bar with the glass fog lights so all I had to do was remove the foglight indicator housing, 3 small nuts once you get the bash plates off. It's 2 piece the plastic front and a metal back. My old indicators were attached to the backing plate. The new ones have a plastic base that gets screwed on then the lights clip in Sorry don't know how the newer bars have there lights attached. Perfect fit once u sandwich it all back together in the bar the only mod I did was to lengthen the screw holes in the base the leds clip into to channels so I had a bit of adjustment to get everything lined up nicely. Hope this helps

Keep in mind there is a minimum distance apart your DRLs need to be to be legal. Although the new 150 has then beside the grille so there must be exceptions.

The later ARB bars don't have that metal mounting plate, not that easy to find suitable LED's that can just screw into the plastic surround.

                    Cheers Andrew

Thx D4D and AJ. There was a fair amount of overhang inside on both sides probably close to 15 mm or more so they could possibly be glued or sikaflexed in ,there 175 mm long. It might also be possible to drill a small mounting hole right through the assembly without damaging the internals. You can see the circuit board when the mounting plate isn't attached and the LEDs end about 1 cm from each end from memory. I can pull one off and check tomorrow if it helps.

Often times, when it's fitted as standard on a vehicle an exception is made in the ADR (or whichever governing body) if it's not easily changed without a massive expensive and if it doesn't really hinder the safety factor. So in the instance of the 150s... can't really move them, can only remove them completely and that would be silly as you would be removing a safety feature the manufacturer has built in.

Looked up the adrs for qld on drls and says they are legal if the centres of the lights are 600mm apart and no further than 510mm from the near side of the car so maybe the 150 fits these guidelines. Dont know what the other states laws are Either way I definitely notice a car with drls before one without so apart for the wank factor I do believe they are a good mod for safety reasons.

As always MLC you have created excitement with your detective work. Can you confirm or deny if this is a part from ARB or from another source?
