The fatboys do draw a lot of power and generate a lot of heat. I think that they are not what they purport. They are good when in poor light conditions, outback, but in the burbs they hardly improve light on the road at all. The HID is something else entirely. The reason I went for 55w was because they were available, similar price and Lumens comparison was 3500 for 35w to 5000 for 55w, ie more light.
I am sure that you will be happy with yours. Someone always has something different! Be sure to realign you lights. This will not only protect oncoming traffic but it will improve the benefits of the lights if they are more exactly aligned. With normal lights it doesn't seem to matter as much.
Have fun installing, it is very straight forward.
