how long did you get out of your OEM radiator

Well mine is on 240kms... im replacing it as a preventative maintenancejob along with everything else in the cooling system... im doing this hoping to get anther 240 trouble free kms out of it... its hard forking the cash out though...$1100 cooling system overhaul!

Hahaha!!! Yea, got a sick child at home so a quiet day indeed, might give my buggy a tub and start building my rear fold down table...And yea junkies for sure haha. Stupid eBay!!!

Did $1100 include a new water pump?

How long does it take to install a new pump? I was considering getting mine changed at 160 000km when the coolant gets changed.

gday gxld4d... the $1100 is at mackay prices so you should do better than that in brissy but what i have waiting to go is...timing belt, tensioner,idler assy, water pump, thermostat & gasket, cam shaft seal, 2 tubes of silicon oil to overhaul the viscous hub, radiator cap and coolant...all bits are genuine...and im about to order an aftermarket radiator for $450- (thats in the price of $1100) Im not doing hoses as i replaced them 12 months ago- approx $250 for genuine... thats every single cooling hose not just radiator. whilst im thrre im gonna do the injectors and test the glow plugs... save going back later for it!

Im putting a full day aside for the job with no plans for the next just in case... im sure a mechanic would say anywhere between 5 - 8 hrs... any mechanics want to offer comment on that?

My radiator has seen 210,000 km in 11 years and still works as well as it did the day it got on the big boat from Japan. Touch wood there's still a few years in it yet.

Mine did 260,000 and wasnt leaking too bad when i changed it...just weeping slightly but i was about to do a run from Melb to Fraser and back and didnt want to take any chances. Got an aftermarket one for 280 or similar and its been fine. The guy who i got it from (ebay - newqualityradiators) was a top bloke..sent an instruction manual and a load of info on how to care for the radiator, best fluids to use etc etc. Gotparcel tracking and a warranty too. He also made sure that i went out and got a new cap and even emailed me a few days later to check if it went in OK and was working ok...Now thats service! I doubt you would get that OE eh?

I've done 235000 in mine and it started weeping down near the drain tap at about 220000. I used a pair of long handled multigrip
pliers and tightened up the clamp that holds the plastic tank to the core, that fixed the problem and saved me some moolah.
If it starts leaking anywhere else along that clamp I'll give it the same fix.
