Check if the kit comes with blanking plugs to block two on the holes. You'll need 2 x 10mm banjos, 2 x blanking plugs and some 10mm hose.

No it doesn't.

But the good sir at Brierley Hose and Handling Tasmania knew exactly what I was after and hooked me up, including thread locker suited for diesel.

So I installed today, pretty straight forward (minor cussing)....there are two inlets/outlets - marked with an arrow.

All locked in, and aside from having to re-prime the main filter - lets say an hour to do.

They were chucking out a whole heap of filters and stuff at work that were for machines that they no longer had and i managed to pick up this filter housing and 2 filters for it. The filter is part number is 131-1812 i cant seem to find any information on the net for it. Its similar to the ones here except it just has a drain on the bottom of it and not the clear bowl like the other ones in this thread, just wondering if anyone has used this filter?

nope they don't, and yes i did search google before i posted. I was basically after information on the filter like mircron rating etc. but all they seem to list is the filter dimensions etc.

Allright then keen to jump on this aswell,
So basically the bonus of the cat unit over the racor is cheaper assembly to start with and then much cheaper replacement elements aswell
Both units seem to be highly recomended.

Cat seperator

I purchased the Cat separator and an extra 30 micron filter to slot into it. $150 for both from Cat Sydney plus delivery and will post picks when I get it in next month.

Wow it has been ages since I have been in here and good to see this thread still churning along.
As a bit of an update I am still running this same water separator setup without any problems to report.
I have seen some posts regarding the micron rating of the filters and some commenting on how a filter too fine could cause restrictions. Donaldson have had a 5 micron filter for years and have just released a 3 micron unit claiming on the back of requests of Toyota owners. This new setup is also supplied with 10mm barb fittings to be compatible with our fuel lines. The biggest drama I see is that it only has one inlet and outlet on each side and is a bit longer than the CAT unit meaning you could not use the factory inner guard mounting points as described in my original posts.

I just fitted the Terrain Tamer (Pre-filter) unit and for those that are interested it came with a fitting bracket that connects to the current fuel filter assembly. You can buy the kit separately & I'm sure it could be fitted to the Cat assembly.

In terms of micron size, I'm now thinking I should change ours to a post filter with 2-3 micron filter, along with adding a pro-vent catch can to ensure all air and fuel that enters the engine is as clean as possible.

I have been reading about the 30 micron filter from the thread.
Can you tell me the part number for it from CAT as I have been informed that running anything less than a 30 micron could possibly hurt your fuel pump.
