The point I was tying to make was how can 7 Eleven sell fuel for 12 cents a litre cheaper than Shell & still make a profit.
With Shell being the same supplier.

We all know we are being ripped badly by the major oil companies

As I said before there the breaks you get every year around Easter

    Again have a safe Easter

    Cheers

I heard on radio today that the Shell refinery in Sydney has been out of action since mid January. So all the service stations that are contracted to source fuel from Shell, in Sydney, are now getting it elsewhere putting a big strain on supplies.

      Apparently!!

At the servo I went to today, in my gas powered work falcon, the attendant said it was very hard to get fuel for this reason and especially with the normal easter demand...

Well I filled up at Shell Larapinta in Alice today and it was 169.9 cents a litre for diesel. Tank the lord that I only had to put 49 litres in to fill the tank. If I had not been going out bush I probably would not have bothered topping up the tank.

            fuel

If the Sydney refinery referred to above is the one at Rose Hill / Silverwater, they have had 3 unstable gas burnoff chimney's (not sure if that 's the right terminology ) going flat out when I normally see one burning away so they must be playing catch up!

well when i headed down to sydney a few days ago i got the shock of my life. I am used to seeing 10-15 cent difference but fmd i was looking at standard unleaded at 132.9 while diesel was anywhere from 152.9 to 159.9 a 20 to nearly 30 cents difference.

When you consider that it is cheaper for the refinery to produce diesel than regular petrol it really starts to get on my goat.

If this petrol commissioner is for real 1 of the first things that he needs to do is start reviewing diesel prices as it really looks to me like they are bending us all over and handing us the Vaseline jar (another wonderful oil based product, maybe they can jack up the price on that per jar, just to make sure we don't buy the lube before we get the shaft)

Diesel is in such high demand in China due to their racing economy that the oil companies struggle to supply enough for their needs. Unfortunately Australia is in the same region and therefore our prices are fixed to Singapore.

Over Easter I took my Prado down to Coffs, on the way back on easter Monday going through Casino, I saw Diesel for 148.9. Seeing it was only monday (tuesday usually the cheapest) and Qld has the 8c less tax I decided to wait until I got back to Brissie

Didn't see it under 152.9 in QLD. When you take into account the 8c tax discount thats a 12c different.

Unfortunately the fuel companies are given the 8c to pass on to us, lately they are just using it as an easy 8c profit margin.

I would rather see the 8c go totally as aditional funding on Qld road, the Easter trip just confirmed that the NSW roads are in a much better state of repair than Qld.

I've been using the motormouth site to get fuel price updates of late. Check out http://motormouth.com.au

It has a trend analysis showing that for Diesel (in Brisbane) Sunday looks to be the cheapest day, so different to Petrol prices.

I managed 129 about two-three weeks ago, but cant see it any lower than about 149 in Brisbane of late.

Diesel in Adelaide is around the $1.60per litre mark at the moment! It almost makes me seriously reconsider whether the D4D is owrth it?

$288 to fill an empty Prado at this price

                        AJ,
We all know that the price of Diesel is ridiculous, the only small bit of comfort is that the price of Premium unleaded is slightly dearer.
A full tank of PULP would cost about $300 per tank full.

And we all know what the price of fuel is doing to our economy.(Gas included)
It would appear no matter what political party runs the country, in reality the Oil companies RULE

Yeah, I'm hearing you. It's going to continue to go up beefore it goes down. A fact of life that we're going to have to swallow for good.

Here's an interesting story that got my goat but good in the Brisbane papers ....

                            http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/stor ... 60,00.html

Apparently the refiner margin for petrol is 1 cent per litre, but for diesel (low sulphur at least) it is 17.5 cents

You can't tell me we ain't getting screwed royally. I haven't seen diesel under 149.9 here (brissie) since easter, and that's despite unleaded going back down to 132.9 last Tue4s from memory. The figures might be cheaper than down south or out bush but it doesn't change the fact we're getting bent over the bowser and getting you-know-what'ed

I will definately be checking out the prices over the next few days (that article was yesterday) to see if prices coe down. Cynical_Stevo wont exactly be shocked if they don't ......

My local had fuel go up before easter. as is the norm.
But only petrol has come back down, diesel still 1.60??? why, i dont know.

And why has gas gone up so much in the last few years. Would it have anything to do with all the rebates you get for swapping you cars over. From what Im hearing there is NO benefit in dual fuelling your car anymore. There used to be a big difference in $$$ per kilomoter. But not now..
Were just stuck with it. We use the 4 cent vouchers when ever we can, or Gull BioD which is generally 4-5 cents cheaper than the others.

They have us by the short and curlies, unless we lived in brazil... get it lived in brazil.. brazilians,,,, oh forget it.
Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.
